This seems to be the go-to for the Squad Dems when they can’t defend their actions. How dare someone question a public official after they take an anti-American stance… Rep Ilhan Omar compared the HAMAS, a terrorist organization, to America and Israel. She claimed that we all need to be held accountable for our crimes against humanity. Lawmakers were immediately upset asking Omar to clarify her slight against America and Israel. She did, but then played the victim and her fellow Dem Rep Rashida Tliab backed her up playing the race card.
Rep Omar comparing a terrorist organization with America and Israel:
“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban,” Omar wrote in a tweet along with a video of her questioning Blinken.
Her remark sparked outrage among lawmakers and prompted a dozen Jewish Democrats who support Israel to demand on Wednesday that Omar “clarify” what she said.
“The United States and Israel are imperfect and, like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalencies give cover to terrorist groups,” the group of 12 Democrats said in a statement. “We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the U.S. and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban.”
Omar later clarified her stance in a Press Release:
“To be clear: the conversation was about accountability for specific incidents regarding those ICC cases, not a moral comparison between Hamas and the Taliban and the U.S. and Israel.
“I was in no way equating terrorist organizations with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.”
But that didn’t stop her and her fellow Squad Dems from bashing critics
“It’s shameful for colleagues who call me when they need my support to now put out a statement asking for “clarification” and not just call. The islamophobic tropes in this statement are offensive. The constant harassment & silencing from the signers of this letter is unbearable.”
Tlaib took to Twitter to express her outrage for Rep Omar being asked to clarify her stance.
“Freedom of speech doesn’t exist for Muslim women in Congress. The benefit of the doubt doesn’t exist for Muslim women in Congress. House Democratic leadership should be ashamed of its relentless, exclusive tone policing of Congresswomen of color.”
This was not about Rep Omar being Muslim. It had nothing to do with race/religion and everything to do with what she said. She was comparing the United States and Israel with a known terrorist group. But she doesn’t think the HAMAS is a terrorist group. She was in support of the HAMAS in their recent conflict with Israel, and they fired rockets into Israel…
