While in San Francisco for the Democratic National Committee event, Democratic presidential hopeful and socialist Bernie Sanders stopped by John’s Grill to grab a bite to eat.
The 111-year old restaurant, which is a well-known location for politicians to hang out at in San Francisco was booming that night and had people such as Secretary of State Alex Padilla, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, and even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi herself.
Owner John Konstin said that things were great that night and even Pelosi was “pure class”.
Well, it doesn’t look like everyone was full of class that night because Konstin, who is a supporter of Sanders said that he was very cranky, rude to the staff, and refused to shake hands.
According to The Daily Wire,
“Dems in town for DNC packed in John’s Grill, the 111-year old bistro that’s become a go-to for pols in San Francisco,” reported the outlet. “Owner John Konstin tells POLITICO he hosted a full house, including a big party with Secretary of State Alex Padilla and Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis, all led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was ‘pure class.'”
While the others were indeed “pure class,” Sanders, as it seems, was pure crank by refusing to shake hands while being fairly rude to the staff.
“It was all very nice, except for cranky Bernie,” Konstin told Politico.
Sanders apparently ordered lobster bisque, an heirloom tomato salad, and a Diet Coke when he ate dinner with 15 others from his campaign staff.
“He didn’t want to shake hands, he didn’t want a picture,” Konstin alleged. “He wasn’t nice to any of the staff.”
Konstin said that the entire experience with Sanders left a bad taste in his mouth and that “He lost my vote.”
One reporter said, “Bernie had to be in a terrible mood. Anyone in the public eye needs to understand when it’s time to order room service.”
That’s probably what he should have done. If you’re going to be in a foul mood, don’t go to the most happening spot in town and be a jerk.
