Thugs Tried To Break Down A Door, Got Hit With A Totally Horrifying Surprise…
Most of the time, we are kept safe in our homes, which are like our castles. However, sometimes they may be seen as targets for criminals. Property crimes are known by several names. Home invasion, burglary, breaking, and entering or break-in are all descriptors of similar events. And they mostly carry large personal loss price tags whether that loss is a result of stolen possessions, damaged property, or, in some cases, by jeopardizing our personal safety.
Property crimes come in all shapes and sizes. Home invasion is arguably the scariest type of criminal activity involving an unwelcome person entering your home. By definition, a home invasion is a specific act of invading a home while the resident is in the structure.
Often, a home invasion is made worse by the offender committing additional unlawful acts such as stealing, damaging property, or any of several personal violent crimes. According to Crime Data Explorer, for the past several decades, property crime rates, including burglaries, have steadily declined. The current burglary rate, including cases of forced entry, is 75% less than it was in the 1980s.
Now, a group of would-be robbers in Arizona broke down the door of a home in the middle of the night but little did they know, the homeowner had a brilliant backup plan to protect his home just in case. Surveillance footage of the incident went viral after it was shared across social media, showing the criminals approaching the house with the intent to ransack the place and possibly do worse.
However, as soon as they kicked open the door; they realized they had made a big mistake. The armed homeowner was waiting for them and had fired shots at them, forcing them to flee empty-handed and humiliated. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of home security and proper firearm training.
The criminals approached the house at around 3:40 a.m. and were caught on surveillance cameras. The footage shows two masked crooks inspecting the porch, but they quickly spotted the monitoring system and covered it with their hands. They were soon joined by two more accomplices just feet away on the lawn.
The first two men used their combined strength to kick open the door, and the thugs rushed the opening, believing they had succeeded. Much to their surprise, they realized that the locked door was actually for their protection. They then met with trails from the rounds of a firearm whizzing through the opening before they could even get inside.
WATCH the video below:
The criminals fled for their lives, stumbling across the yard before scrambling into a gray sedan and speeding off. The homeowner had been alerted to the movement outside by his monitoring system and managed to get to his firearm and prepare for the thugs to enter his home just in time.
Police confirmed that the homeowner discharged his weapon, but it is unclear if any of the intruders were hit. The surveillance video was uploaded in the hope that someone with information regarding the criminals’ identities would come forward. There was no word on the physical conditions of the failed robbers. Since the thugs are aware that the homeowner is armed and prepared to defend himself and his property, it is safe to assume that they won't be visiting the house again. A home where the resident is armed is much less likely to be broken into by criminals. The more helpless those inside can be, the better for them.
The armed homeowner won despite being up against four other people instead of just one. The thugs expected the resident to be defenseless and asleep but were instead surprised to find someone who was well-prepared and not willing to be at the mercy of those who would harm him.
This incident serves as a reminder that with proper training, almost anyone can learn to safely handle a firearm for their own protection. Despite the fact that the majority of gun owners will never need to use their weapons, it only takes one incident like this to make the difference between life and death.
