Target Raised Minimum Wage Now Employees Are Complaining More Than Ever, Guess Why?

It seems that liberals, especially the Millenials, are 100% for raising the minimum wage, right? At least that’s how it seems nowadays.

Most liberals want at least $15 per hour, but there are some who think that more is warranted – even $17-$20 may not be enough some would say. But now those who actually getting their wishes granted are finding themselves regretting it…just like us conservatives said would happen.

One prime example is Target. They announced in 2017 that their minimum wage would increase to $15 by the end of 2020. Currently, they are at $13 per hour company-wide.

But what they didn’t count on was the reduction in hours they would receive as a result of the increased wages. If they would have listened in the first place, none of this would be happening.

According to The Blaze,

One employee, Heather, told CNN that when her hourly pay rate increased, management cut her total work hours.

“I got that dollar raise but I’m getting $200 less in my paycheck,” she said. “I have no idea how I’m going to pay rent or buy food.”

Other employees, Caren and Michael, told CNN their hours were cut substantially. Caren said she lost her health insurance — forcing her to quit her job — while Michael has had to pick up a side job just to make ends meet.

One of the reason hours are being cut is the development of retail automation, namely in the form of the self-checkout line.

“They really cut those hours back from them with the introduction of self-checkout,” a former store director told CNN.

Here is what these “progressives” fail to understand time and time again: companies don’t just have magical money that appears out of nowhere, it’s earned and companies are set on the mission of making money. So when they’re bullied or forced, or even just decide to raise wages on their own, that money has to come from somewhere and what companies typically do is look for other areas or ways to cut in some places.

So if they only offer health benefits to employees who work more than 30 per week, well that’s a big cost to the company, so cutting 10 hours per week will help balance out the extra they’re having to pay per hour.
