Shocker: Cackles At The View Turn On AOC?
Usually, it's Megan McCain that rips into Dems that appear on "The View." But surprisingly it was Whoopi Goldberg that had a beef with a Dem this time when they had freshman squad member AOC on the show. Goldberg was upset that AOC was disrespectful of the Dems that came before her. AOC's refusal to directly answer for her poor conduct only went to further piss off the host.
"I was very happy when you were elected, because I thought it was a great step in a good direction," Goldberg said. "And then, you lost me because it felt like you were saying to people like me that I was too old and didn't do enough."
"And so, that has bothered me, because I feel like I love young people. I was once one. But you're on my shoulders. And we have carried this fight. People like Nancy Pelosi, who was the only chick in the room for years. ... And to sort of hear it sound like you were dismissing us bothered the hell out of me. And I've been very upset about it for a long time."
"The freshman congresswoman responded by rattling off senior members of the Democratic House leadership whom she respects, including Reps. Barbara Lee, Maxine Waters, and the late Elijah Cummings. Goldberg appeared unconvinced by Ocasio-Cortez's answer, however.
"Cool," she simply responded before moving on to the next question."
"Goldberg also knocked freshmen for their apparent lack of compromise.
"Women of color, watch me now. Let's keep this in mind, do you think Nancy Pelosi wanted to pass a half-assed bill? No, the moderates were the problem and I would say to these women."
She appeared to be referring to the border funding bill that fueled a lot of the controversy surrounding Ocasio-Cortez and others in the party.
She added that if Ocasio-Cortez and others did not try to reach out and persuade moderates, they shouldn't complain about legislation.
"If you're not going to do that, you're not allowed to b---h about this."
Looks like AOC didn't impress Goldberg one bit. She didn't even apologize for alienating older Dems. She had the chance here to bridge the divide in her party but instead acted like it was no big deal that she would attack Pelosi for doing her job.
