Sen. Cruz Gives WaPo A Reality Check After A Writer Blames Trump For The Current Economy
The Corona Virus has turned our economy practically upside down. We were thriving, unemployment rates were at record lows and things were looking up until China messed up and practically released a plague on the world. But that's not how Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler is telling it. Kessler recently posted on Twitter bashing Trump for the current economy as if he was somehow responsible.
Kessler's tweets:
"Line from Trump's State of the Union address that did not age well: "Incredibly, the average unemployment rate under my administration is lower than any administration in the history of our country.”
"As we noted in our fact check at the time: "This is worth fact-checking because the average over three years is hardly comparable to a four- or eight-year average for other presidents." Imagine what the average will end up by the conclusion of Trump's term."
"This is an example of how manipulated stats can backfire on politicians. You shouldn't be comparing yourself to full-term presidents before your term is up. Things can happen that make such claims appear foolish in retrospect."
"It’s also an example of how it’s foolhardy for any president to brag about the state of the economy on their watch. They have little to do with broad economic trends, good or bad."
I guess Trump like everyone else in the world did not plan on a pandemic...
But Senator Ted Cruz didn't let that tweet stand and fired back at the biased Fact-checker.
"The press HATED that, three months ago, we had the lowest African-American & Hispanic unemployment ever recorded. Now that we’re in the midst of a global pandemic—which originated in Wuhan, not the Oval Office—too many in the press are giddy with glee. #RootForAmerica"
Kessler tried to defend himself but it was a weak response.
"Oh come on. No glee here. I am simply pointing out how it was inappropriate to make this comparison before a full term was completed —exactly as our fact check of the SOTU pointed out."
And Cruz came back at his weak attempt to hide his Trump hate.
Fact check: Four Pinocchios. 🤥 🤥 🤥 🤥 https://t.co/cxl1gs2RZZ

Yeah right, Kessler was totally bashing the president, he just wasn't expecting to be called out for it since it is so common these days. Thankfully Cruz put him in his place and reminded him that the Corona Virus is by no means Trump's fault, which should be a given at this point but these libs would blame just about anything on Trump as it seems their hate has no bounds.
