Pelosi Kills Corona Relief Bill With Outlandish Demands
Americans are doing their best to try and weather this pandemic. We are dealing with quarantines and possible loss of work when jobs are on-site only. The president has seen this and is trying his best to help Americans hoping to start off by giving us at least $1000 per person to help us through this difficult time. Trump has said he will pass whatever comes across his desk when it comes to Corona relief and it appeared that politicians were finally working together to serve the American people. Well, that is until Pelosi stepped in, and started sabotaging Corona relief bills, screwing over the American people.
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is reportedly why Democrats suddenly opposed an emergency coronavirus relief bill that had bipartisan support in the Senate.
Ben Williamson, the chief of staff for Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), tweeted about how Pelosi returned to Washington, D.C., on Sunday with demands and shut down the bipartisan bill.
"Senate spends all weekend negotiating a bipartisan deal. Agreement reached. Pelosi flies in from California, whips out her unrelated “wishlist,” and says no. Senate Democrats then vote against proceeding on a bill they negotiated.
"Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) blasted Democrats' obstruction in a fiery Senate floor speech. "The notion that we have time to play games here with the American economy and the American people is utterly absurd," he said.
"We'll have this...vote again at some point of my choosing and hopefully some adults will show up on the other side of the room and understand the gravity of the situation and the need to act before the markets go down further and the American people become even more depressed about our lack of ability to come together under the most extraordinary of circumstances," McConnell said."
"Speaker Nancy Pelosi is hitting pause on bipartisan negotiations on a $1.6 trillion-plus emergency package in the Senate, saying the House will forge ahead with its own bill to address coronavirus after congressional leaders failed to reach a deal earlier Sunday."
"The bill proposed by Pelosi, D-Calif., additionally seeks to eliminate debt held by the U.S. Postal Service, require same-day voter registration, pay off $10,000 in student debt per person, mandate that airlines reduce their overall carbon emissions by 50 percent by 2050, and force federal agencies to explain to Congress how they are increasing their usage of "minority banks."
And, the legislation would provide for the automatic extension of nonimmigrant visas and restrict colleges from providing information about citizenship status."
"But even some House Democrats are privately wondering what is Pelosi’s endgame, especially given that lawmakers, including many in her own caucus, don’t even want to return to Washington at all, much less for a standoff with the Senate. Already, two House members have tested positive for coronavirus and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday said he’s contracted the virus.
McConnell, meanwhile, has sought to drum up the pressure on House Democrats to support the Senate’s package, comparing it to last week’s multi-billion dollar “Phase 2” emergency package that Congress approved, which was largely crafted by Pelosi and Mnuchin.
“It would be best for the country if the House would take it up and pass it just like we did earlier this week when the House passed a bill that I had only marginal participation in because the country was desperate for results. So I hope that’s the way this ends,” McConnell told reporters.
Senate Republicans and the White House reiterated on Sunday they are ready to muscle ahead with the $1.6-plus trillion economic rescue package, which includes $350 billion for small businesses support and $250 billion for unemployment insurance. It also includes billions in relief to distressed industries like airlines, and billions more to help hospitals address the influx of patients."
Pelosi at this point is hurting the American people. She is supposed to be serving us and instead is hindering Trump and efforts to help us get through this pandemic. If this virus is not beaten soon there will be massive layoffs as very few are traveling and any business not online is losing money. So Americans are going to need that aid sooner than later.
