Obama Attacked For Criticizing Libs Favorite Slogan

This past Wednesday Obama faced far-left scrutiny when he dared to say that “Defund the Police” was an alienating movement. Squad Dems and “The View” host Sunny Hostin took issue with Obama’s criticism. They felt he didn’t understand the movement.

I’m always loath to criticize President Obama because I’m such a fan but I do think he’s wrong here,” Ms. Hostin said. “When you think about Defund the Police, that’s not a term that was crowdsourced or tested in focus groups, you know, that’s a term that was borne — a rallying cry that was borne out of the over-policing of Black and brown communities, borne out of the frustration seeing Black and Brown men and women killed in the streets by police officers.

“Defunding the police does not mean, for the hundredth time I’ve explained it, does not mean eliminating police departments. It doesn’t mean stripping agencies for all of their money. It’s reimagining policing in this country to address systemic racism,” she continued. “And I don’t think you should allow people to co-opt the movement and tell protesters what language they should use. President Obama was a community organizer and I really think that he knows better.”

Squad Dems were also upset.

Rep. Tlaib tweeted: “Rosa Parks was vilified & attacked for her civil disobedience. She was targeted. It’s hard seeing the same people who uplift her courage, attack the movement for Black lives that want us to prioritize health, funding of schools & ending poverty, rather than racist police systems.”

Rep.Omar also weighed in on Twitter.

“We lose people in the hands of police. It’s not a slogan but a policy demand. And centering the demand for equitable investments and budgets for communities across the country gets us progress and safety.”

Obama’s controversial stance:

You lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want done,” the former president said.

The key is deciding, do you want to actually get something done, or do you want to feel good among the people you already agree with?” Obama added.

Obama in this instance is right, ‘reform the police’ would have been a far better movement. The police agencies/residents in many Dem lead cities would be far better off if it had “reform” instead of “defund.” Obama is not vilifying the movement he is just pointing out that it doesn’t make a positive change and he is right. Crime is up practically everywhere that Dem leaders bowed to the movement. But somehow the movement is a success?
