I guess this is what happens when someone is not having good luck in the dating pool, they create an article explaining how it’s everyone else that is wrong. Outspoken Feminist Vicky Spratt wrote an article for refinery29.com explaining that she feels men who are against dating “woke women” are actually creating terrorists. Her reasoning is that these men are encouraging the oppression of women, now that’s a reach. Spratt’s uses semi-famous U.K. actor Laurence Fox as her example of a man refusing to date woke women.
“Fox is denying racism and sexism, irrespective of whether or not they exist. It’s nothing short of gaslighting. It’s all very Donald Trump. And as you would expect, the whole debacle has lit a fire under anti-woke poster boy Piers Morgan while gaining Fox thousands of extra Twitter followers.
I could go over all the things he’s said; I could use data to prove how wrong he is; I could express concern for his mental health (after all, who really enjoys arguing on Twitter?); I could make jokes about his behaviour. But all of that would be to seriously miss the point.
There’s nothing funny about the things Fox – or Wokey McWokeface as he now wants to be known – is saying. It’s also not particularly sad. It’s dangerous. He is just one very privileged man, and as a result of said privilege, has been given a platform. And he has used that platform to legitimise a bigger backlash against diversity and progress which is unfolding every single day in less public corners of the internet.”
“
It doesn’t take magical thinking to see how men are radicalised by anti-feminism. As the saying goes: “When you’re used to privilege, equality feels like oppression.”
“
Right now, Laurence Fox, whether he realises it or not, has just landed the biggest part of his life. He is legitimising hatred and division. And yet he cannot be completely unaware of the role he plays; he has spoken about being “radicalised” himself on YouTube.”
The way Spratt writes it feels like she is a disgruntled ex. In her article, she is really fixated on this Laurence Fox guy. She can’t stand that he won’t date a “woke women” and feels he is setting a social trend. Spratt fails to realize that some men are not interested in overly political people. Everyone is allowed to date who they like. Fox is not starting a trend, the U.K. is over the top with the politically correct movement. I was surprised to see that this wasn’t written by a transwoman. It’s funny for being so “woke” she is trying to demonize Fox’s right to choose whoever he wants to date. It seems kind of oppressive…
So if someone doesn’t wish to date “woke” women he is discriminating? I guess that means if someone doesn’t want to date blonde women, or brunette women or short women or tall women that is also discriminating. What about if a woman doesn’t want to date men with facial hair or married men or men just released from prison? How about if someone doesn’t want to date a person of the same sex? Is that also discriminatory? This whole idea is nothing but nonsense. People date people they are attracted to. Nothing more, nothing less.
RJ I have to totally agree with you and your common sense comments (common sense is not common, unfortunately) I don’t think she’s totally woke though, or maybe her spell checker is broken….
