Feinstein Announces Witnesses For Barrett Hearing
Senator Feinstein is upset that Amy Coney Barrett did not answer her question with a yes or no. She wants Barrett to admit that she is not for Roe v Wade. But instead of giving Feinstein what she wants, Barrett answered that she is not going to bring any of her personal opinions into cases as she wants to be fair and unbiased. So now Feinstein is bringing in two witnesses to stress how important she feels that abortion rights and the Affordable Care Act are.
Barrett also told Feinstein that she would not be answering how she feels when it comes to other topics as well and she even quoted Ruth Bader Ginsberg.
"The Supreme Court nominee cited the "Ginsburg Rule" for a judge to offer zero hints as to how he or she would rule in certain cases regarding abortion, same-sex marriage and the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
"Justice Ginsburg, with her characteristic pithiness, used this to describe how a nominee should comport herself at a hearing: 'no hints, no previews, no forecasts,'" Barrett said during the hearing."
"Senate Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced the witnesses invited by the committee Democrats for Thursday’s Supreme Court nomination hearing:
- Stacy Staggs, a mother of 7-year old twins. Stacy’s twins have multiple pre-existing conditions due to their premature birth and rely on the Affordable Care Act’s protections. Stacy works with Little Lobbyists, a nonprofit started by families with children who have complex medical needs. Stacy will discuss the devastating effects on her family if the Supreme Court overturns the Affordable Care Act.
- Crystal Good, fought for her right to obtain an abortion at age 16. Crystal will speak about the importance of reproductive rights and justice.
Barrett is more than qualified to be on the Supreme Court and she even wants to remain as unbiased as possible. Dems here are just spinning their wheels. Bringing in advocates for what they believe in is not going to change anything. Feinstein and the rest of the Dems should just cut the theatrics and let her nomination go through already.
