America is in turmoil as many cities still have active protesters clogging up highways and causing all sorts of issues. Surprisingly despite the protests that are often turning violent, some liberal protesters are pushing for the police to be defunded. But Chicago libs better keep that sentiment to themselves as police are being asked to work 12-hour shifts just to keep the protesters at bay.
“In Chicago, officers were reportedly ordered to work 12-hour shifts with no days off until further notice. All the while, critics — including elected officials — want to strip them of funding.
“This police system in Chicago and in the country is beyond repair, and so it’s absolutely within reason for people to say that we should tear this system down and start over,” Democratic state Rep. LaShawn Ford of Chicago told reporters outside police headquarters earlier this month, according to the Chicago Tribune.”
“Officers were already working more demanding schedules in recent weeks in response to protests, violence, looting, and civil unrest in parts of the city, as Mayor Lori Lightfoot imposed a 9 p.m. curfew and called in the National Guard for assistance, the Tribune reported.
Former Chicago Police Department Superintendent Garry McCarthy said in a WGN radio appearance earlier this month that the city “got caught with our pants down,” saying police should have used a report created after protests at the 2012 NATO summit that is now “on the shelf somewhere in police headquarters.”
“You could implement it today, and it would help control what is happening today,” he McCarthy said.”
Mayor Lightfoot has called the protests in Chicago unprecedented and admitted they are in a state of lawlessness. It seems like the police are the only thing keeping the city from flat out being taken over by the supposed peaceful protesters. And libs think we should defund them…
Why all of a sudden this Mayor changed her mind to have police working?? Didn’t she want Chicago to burn and be destroyed this summer?
Lets defund the police but while we still have them lets make the work 12 hour shifts with no days off. Hum. Thats Chicago for you. And LA wats their police to work over time with out pay. How 2 faced are these mayors?

Well let us think about this for a second – overtime is 1.5 (more on holidays plus any shift differentials) times the normal wage so the operating costs have just gone up by 50% (at least) – yep sounds like ‘defunding’ to me. Bottom line is that she and others who ‘think’ like she does are ONLY concerned with being in control. If anyone doesn’t think so, just look at her do as I say not as I do actions and her blatant threats if you don’t.
