California Mayor Resigns After Calling Trump Supporters KKK Members
Many Democrats can't fathom that anyone would like Trump. Auburn Mayor William Kirby is one of these Dems as he let his personal hate for the president go on full display as he posted about the president and Trump supporters on social media. He forgot that some of his constituents are Trump supporters and nastily compared Trump supporters to the KKK. Kirby claimed we already have our masks to combat the Corona Virus, and posted a picture of the hoods KKK members wear. He is a public figure that is supposed to be serving his community and with that post completely alienated part of his community. But he did not go unpunished as the public saw his post and have demanded he step down and he has agreed to step down at the end of the month.
"Auburn Mayor William Kirby — who's also a physician — admitted to the city council Monday that some of his posts were over the top, the station said.
One post shows a photo of a hooded Ku Klux Klan member with the caption, "Good news for Trump supporters is that most of them already have masks." Kirby commented, "True."
William Kirby is the Mayor of Auburn California. He posted this on his Facebook page. It's time for Kirby to step down.

"...Dozens of citizen emails that were shared on-screen during the public comment period that followed the mayor’s opening statement.
Some citizen voicemails were played as well.
“These comments are hateful, degrading, bigoted and more consistent with the mentality of a 15-year-old,” one voicemail said.
“It is extremely disappointing and I believe that he should be removed,” another person said via voicemail."
"A few council members also weighed in.
“And this is how I feel: I abhor the things that he has said and done and I did not hear an apology from him tonight,” said City Councilwoman Cheryl Maki.
“We need to be focused right now and our staff needs to be focused on the response to COVID and the recovery of COVID,” said Councilman Daniel Berlant."
"Mayor Kirby sent CBS13 the following statement regarding the situation:
“I have spent 40 years of my life dedicated to serving Auburn as a physician and through my volunteer efforts.
Some people have viewed my posts, which were meant to be private and made out of frustration as over the top. Some were and I regret that.
I want to share with you where my frustrations have come from. As a doctor I see nurses, respiratory therapists, other medical staff, first responders and my medical colleagues as well as their patients dying unnecessarily because of the lack of preparation for the Corona virus, The President has put us all at risk.
I believe history will judge those who stood up against damaging policies and ideologies and those that did not.”

People like Kirby should not run for any public office. How long has he been feeling this way? How might it have affected the policies that he signed off on or created? We don't need extremists running any part of any American Government. Kirby's apology feels hollow, how is calling Trump supporters KKK members just a little "over the top?" He knew what he was saying he just didn't expect his fellow Californians to call him out on it. It seems he thought that his opinion would been better accepted in the blue state. Well, at least he is stepping down and will not have his hand in any future projects as he is clearly prejudice against Trump supporters.
Kirby has since passed away, you can read the followup here.
