Auburn Mayor William Kirby is one of these Dems as he let his personal hate for the president go on full display as he posted about the president and Trump supporters on social media. He forgot that some of his constituents are Trump supporters and nastily compared Trump supporters to the KKK. Kirby claimed we already have our masks to combat the Corona Virus, and posted a picture of the hoods KKK members wear. He is a public figure that is supposed to be serving his community and with that post completely alienated part of his community. But he did not go unpunished as the public saw his post and have demanded he step down and he has agreed to step down at the end of the month.

I believe history will judge those who stood up against damaging policies and ideologies and those that did not.”

People like Kirby should not run for any public office. How long has he been feeling this way? How might it have affected the policies that he signed off on or created? We don’t need extremists running any part of any American Government. Kirby’s apology feels hollow, how is calling Trump supporters KKK members just a little “over the top?” He knew what he was saying he just didn’t expect his fellow Californians to call him out on it. It seems he thought that his opinion would been better accepted in the blue state. Well, at least he is stepping down and will not have his hand in any future projects as he is clearly prejudice against Trump supporters.

I think the now ex-mayor has forgotten the KKK was founded by Democrats in the south after the Democrats surrendered in the Civil Way. The Civil War was fought over States Rights to allow them to keep their slaves.

There were economic factors, and states’ rights factors, but they were BOTH centered around slavery. Now, common sense tells us that the REASON for wanting slaves was economic. It wasn’t human trafficking (economic) for sex, or to have slaves as pets, we know this. It was to have the human resources necessary to farm your crops and maintain your cattle. That’s economics 101.
The abolitionists (Republicans) saw it as a human rights issue. Slave owners (Democrats) saw it as an economic issue. It was still about slavery, no matter the reasons you were for or against it.
It was also about taxes. Taxes were levied on goods shipped from overseas. Northern states with more manufacturing received less imports, so paid less taxes, while Southern farming states imported more and paid more taxes. The Northern states wanted to spend more for the federal government, so raised tax rates that were heavily paid by Southern states. The Southern states were tired of supporting the Northern states’ spending and refused.
Now we have big spending Democrat cities (New York, Detroit, also in the North) that want the rest of the country to bail out their bankrupt pension plans. We need to refuse that too.

The civil war was NOT fought over slavery. It was fought over the same thing as the Revolutionary War – taxation without representation. The South was being taxed and the money was finding it’s way up north. People in the South took exception to that and that is why the war started.
