This year was bad for Mom & Pop’s. One out of six small businesses that closed are never going to open again and who knows how many more businesses will close their doors for good with the lockdowns that many Dem leaders are proposing. But a real economy killer was suggested by none other than Billionaire Bill Gates. Gates claims we need a 4-6 month lockdown to end this pandemic. Well, you can say goodbye to most small businesses if they have to go for six months without being open.
Bill Gates appeared on “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper where he brought up the business destroying idea of a six-month lockdown.
“There are a lot of governors who oppose bringing back these lockdown orders and forcing businesses to close. What do you think?” Tapper asked Gates.
“Bars and restaurants in most of the country will be closed as we go into this wave. And I think, sadly, that’s appropriate. The next four to six months really call on us to do our best because we can see that this will end, and you don’t want, you know, somebody you love to be the last to die of coronavirus,” Gates replied.

Rush Limbaugh weighed in on Gates’s six-month lockdown idea.
“This is obviously somebody out of touch. I know it’s an accusatory thing to say because, you know, we kind of celebrate billionaires in America. Well, some of us do. Some people equate being a billionaire with being brilliant. And that’s not necessarily the case at all. But, I mean, Bill Gates says more shutdowns needed, six months shutdown, bars and restaurants. That’s the last thing that’s needed. That is the last thing that’s gonna be helpful. Shutdowns don’t advance anything. They just delay the inevitable.”
I get that Gates is trying to help here, but a six-month lockdown is going to shut down numerous businesses and cause more Americans to struggle to put food on the table. We can’t afford to cover all of these businesses for six months and we shouldn’t be doing such a damaging lockdown. We should just roll out the vaccine and continue to do our best to social distance. These over the top restrictions hurt us more than this virus ever could.
