Last year rioters were committing arson and attacking police officers. They were looting and vandalizing non-stop. But the MSM refused to report this and would instead claim that these violent mobs of people were peaceful angels protesting injustice. So I guess it only makes sense that as Police Chief Tim Gannon was telling the media about a riot that broke out in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota that there would be complaints about his use of the word “riot,” as if he was in the wrong…
Gannon was referring to the riot over the accidental death of Daunte Wright. Wright was pulled over during a routine traffic stop and the police claim when he was resisting arrest he was accidentally shot.
So the Press or possibly activists claimed that their violent protest was peaceful…
“One final question. What was your decision to issue a dispersal order while they were peacefully protesting in front of the police station, what led to you to issue the dispersal order and then, on the back end of that 10-minute dispersal order to issue out CO2 canisters and gas for the crowd?” a reporter asked Police Chief Gannon.
The chief replied, “Just so everybody’s clear, I was front and center at the protest, at the riot.”
“Don’t do that, there was no riot,” one person called out.
“There was no riot,” another person said
“There was,” Gannon clarified.
“The officers that were putting themselves in harm’s way were being pelted with frozen cans of pop, they were being pelted with concrete blocks and yes we had our helmets on and we had other protective gear. But an officer was injured, hit in the head with a brick, a Hennepin County Deputy. He was transported to the hospital. So we had to make decisions, we had to disperse the crowds because we can’t allow our officers to be harmed,”

I'm sorry but are these reporters telling the police chief not to use the term riot when explaining how police responded to… a riot? pic.twitter.com/KBaXBRHXro

This is clearly a tragedy. No one wanted Wright to die. But when a peaceful protest turns violent that’s called a riot. It’s likely the MSM just didn’t want a soundbite that was so truthful and against their anti-police narrative.
