Minneapolis started last summer’s defund the police movement with the death of George Floyd. The local government there sided with the protesters and defunded their police leaving minneapolitans easy pickings for criminals. The leaders had to beg neighboring police stations for officers as the city fell into chaos. But crime hasn’t stopped and it’s largely due to the liberal leaders refusing to get with the program and back the blue. But it looks like some Officials are starting to see the light. Mayor Frey admitted that they need the police. That should’ve been a no-brainer.
Frey said as much during an interview with the local news station.
“The violence needs to stop, its unacceptable. People deserve to feel safe in their neighborhood, they deserve to be able to send their kids out to the sidewalk to play and to recreate without bullets flying by. That’s unacceptable. We should be holding these perpetrators accountable,” Frey said.
“It’s going to take a very comprehensive effort. Yes, it includes safety beyond policing, and it includes police. And, you know, I’m one that has been working lockstep with our Chief [Medaria] Arradondo, and I’m calling on the council members to try to work with him as well,” Frey said.
Pastor Dale Hume, chimed in the need for police.
“To people who think that the easy solution to this is defund the police, when you live here and something like this happens, you can obviously see that is not the solution,” Hume said.
And looks like Mayor Frey is actually getting it.
“It’s just the reality of the solution, you know. When you make big, overarching statements that we’re going to defund or abolish and dismantle the police department and get rid of all the officers, there’s an impact to that,” Frey said. “Do we need massive change? Yes we do. We need accountability and culture shift within our department, and we need police.”

There has been a huge crime spike in Minneapolis due to the lack of police. Countless Americans were adversely affected by the dangerous decision to defund the police. So Minneapolitans were put through numerous hardships and only now, after almost a year, are their leaders coming around. They should remember this come election time, how their leaders buckled to the misguided Defund the Police movement practically handing the city over to criminals.
