WATCH: CBS Seems To Think Trump Is Getting Ready To ‘Suspend’ The Constitution

CBS veteran contributor Ted Koppel has seriously jumped the shark on his latest ‘Sunday Morning’ special. Koppel spent to no less than 10 minutes conversing with a panel of ‘experts’ to insinuate that the President plans to ‘suspend’ the constitution ahead of elections. The claim that Trump is getting ready to activate “Presidential Emergency Action Documents’ (PEAD) to strip the people of their rights before ballots are cast.

This is next-level insanity…

So the segment began with Koppel adding this ominous tone to the potentials of presidential powers. Using out of context clips of Trump very vaguely explaining his authority Koppel tried to pursued viewers that Trump has been laying the groundwork to kickstart a dictatorship. One of the wackadoos who chimed in on Koppel’s crazy theory said that it was the ‘blueprints to dictatorship”

One of Koppel’s guest was former Colorado Senator Gary Hart who first introduced the idea that the President could be planning a flat-out suspension of the Constitution:

“Based on the research, is suspension of the Constitution, basically. And that’s what’s worrying, particularly on the eve of the national election,” Hart claimed.

Leftist Elizabeth Goitein chimed in with “essentially presidential orders that are drafted in anticipation of a range of hypothetical worst-case scenarios,” and that they began in the Eisenhower administration. They covered “things like martial law, and the suspension of habeas corpus, and the roundup and detention of no suspected of any crime.”

As you can see, the cast of this ‘daytime drama’ were painting a frightening picture to viewers in hopes to sway voters. Isn’t it funny that these liberal so-called ‘experts’ have never concerned themselves with PEADs before now? Not just that Trump is in office but up for reelections. This is fearmongering at its finest:

This is just a fragment of that conversation (Video Below):

GARY HART: Even though I’ve had security clearances for the better part of 50 years, and then in and out of national security matters during that half-century, I had never heard of these secret powers.

KOPPEL: Do you know what they are, now that you’ve heard of them?

HART: Only vaguely, due to research done at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University Law School. What these secret powers are, apparently, based on the research, is suspension of the Constitution, basically. And that’s what’s worrying, particularly on the eve of the national election.

ELIZABETH GOITEIN (The Brennan Center): These are essentially presidential orders that are drafted in anticipation of a range of hypothetical worst-case scenarios.

KOPPEL: The Brennan Center research that Senator Hart referred to has been spearheaded by Elizabeth Goitein, the co-director of its national security program and a contributing writer at the Atlantic.

Several times during his administration, President Trump has made illusions to secret powers that he has that we don’t know about. Is he making that up?

GOITEIN: Well…not exactly. And what’s alarming about that is that no one really knows what the limit of those claimed of authorities might be because they’re often developed and kept in secret.

KOPPEL: Elizabeth Goitein says what little we do know about PEADs comes from references to them in other documents, some of which are now declassified.

GOITEIN: They originated in the Eisenhower administration, as part of an effort to try to plan for potential Soviet nuclear attack. But since then, they’ve expanded to address other types of emergencies as well. No presidential emergency action document has ever been released or even leaked, not even Congress has access to them. Which is pretty extraordinary when you consider that even the most highly classified, covert, military and intelligence operations have to be reported to at least eight members of Congress. The gang of eight.

KOPPEL: So, you’re saying they are not consulting with Congress?

GOITEIN: Exactly. Congress is not aware of what’s in these documents, and from public sources, we know at least in the past, these documents have purported to do things that are not permitted by the constitution, things like martial law, and the suspension of habeas corpus, and the roundup and detention of no suspected of any crime.

WATCH

Tell me that’s not infuriating madness? Is this not fearmongering? The President has never threatened to take away American’s rights. In fact, they have been furious with the President for months for not mandating masks on a federal level because the President respects the rights of the people.

Let me know what you think about their crackpot theories in the comments below.
