Canada is showing us exactly what happens when you don’t have a constitutional right to bear arms. Canada recently had a shooting in Nova Scotia where 22 people died so they are of course punishing the rest of the law-abiding gun owners in Canada,
“Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced last week that, in the wake of the largest mass shooting in Canada’s history, the Liberal government would be unilaterally outlawing at least 1,500 “assault-style” firearms, “effective immediately,” including, it now seems, shotguns, hunting rifles, airsoft guns, and even gun-related websites.
In a speech last week, Trudeau “announced the ban of over 1,500 models and variants of assault-style firearms, including two guns used by the gunman as well as the AR-15 and other weapons that have been used in a number of mass shootings in the United States,”
Canada has no Second Amendment, so the government can ban weapons without running afoul of enumerated Constitutional rights. But it seems Canadian government officials weren’t particularly clear — or were intentionally vague — about the definition of an “assault weapon” and, according to a list published Monday, the list of banned guns includes 10- and 12-gauge shotguns — a necessity for hunting in many of Canada’s more remote locales — hunting rifles, a BB gun, and even the website AR15.com.”
“You do not need an AR-15 to take down a deer,” Trudeau said. “So, effective immediately, it is no longer permitted to buy, sell, transport, import or use military-grade, assault weapons in this country.
There is a two-year amnesty period while the government creates a program that will allow current owners to receive compensation for turning in the designated firearms or keep them through a grandfathering process yet to be worked out.
Under the amnesty, the newly prohibited firearms can only be transferred or transported within Canada for specific purposes. Owners must keep the guns securely stored until there is more information on the buyback program.
“Trudeau said the weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only: to kill the largest number of people in the shortest amount of time. “Today we are closing the market for military-grade assault weapons in Canada,” he said.
This is why we fight for our right to bear arms here in the United States. If we didn’t have that right we would have lost this right to libs a long time ago. Canadians have to fight off grizzly bears and depending on how north they live, polar bears, they need rifles to take on these threats, This is the government overstepping attacking everyone over one bad egg. Leaders of countries need to stop making national policy over isolated incidents like this. It is tragic that it happened, but there is no reason to punish the rest of the country for the actions of one madman.

You’ve got to have a literary degree to read some of these right wing articles and get the correct message. In this one the smear against Trudeau and anti-gun movement by him is tempered by the phrasing: ‘… including, it now seems,…’. Notice the gigantic loophole the writer uses to absolve himself from bigotry by this phrase. In other words it may not actually be a ban of weapons ordinary hunters and sportsmen use in recreation and food provision in the outback regions where prepared food isn’t available, only game. Tarring with the broad brush condemnation is a feature of extremist writing and rhetoric. Don’t fall for it. Read everything carefully looking for the escape clauses, the modifiers like this one.

Canadians under Trudeau are making a huge mistake. Restricting guns in no way will, as we here in the US have learned, reduce crime especially these mass murder types.
Mass murderers here in the US are pathetically mentally disturbed. I suspect the same may be true in Canada. Many are on prescribed drugs and/or illicit drugs which alter their thinking. Whether obvious (or even evident) or not. If stopping mass murders is the goal confiscating or in any way restricting guns is NOT the answer. That has been tried now, here in the United States, for (about) ninety years and we still have them. However, restricting guns out of existence will never stop mass murders it will just transfer the problem to the real mass murderer the government(s). It may for a time however, assist mass murders until all the guns are gone from citizens hands. After all gun free zones have done exactly that here in the US. It is fact restrictive gun laws only take guns out of law abiding citizens hands not the criminals. However confiscating all the guns in the US or for that matter Canada, if it is even possible, will take a very long time here in the US! Perhaps over a century. Or longer. How long in Canada I have no idea however, I cannot see Canadians just handing over their guns either at least those not in the large metropolitan areas. Or those who know the history of the 20th century.
In the twentieth century governments throughout Europe and Asia became mass murder areas because of dictatorships. Dictators like Hitler, Stalin and Mao Zedong (just to name three: there were dozens of others all were inhumane to their countrymen). Certainly they were three of the worst. All together in that century there were somewhere between one hundred seventy million people and two hundred sixty million people mass murdered by their own government. History shows us when freedoms are lost guns always go first. That number is far over the total population of Canada. Keep in mind those people in Europe and Asia elected those people who usurped power and became dictators.
Any citizen (anywhere in North America or the world for that matter) who opens himself up to such treatment by giving up their only means of fighting against government tyranny is a fool and may likely, sooner or later, wind up in the same position as that which happened in Europe and Asia. Even here in United States of America. One hundred seventy million Americans would be just about half the population. Let that sink in a moment. All government has a tendency to become corrupt without oversight of the people. Without restrictions on government rest assured it will become corrupted! It will be tried even with oversight just as the democrats are attempting to do in the United States of America right now! They certainly will fail!
Yes even those who are now suggesting gun control is the cure for any part of North Americas problems could very well be victims of such tyranny. Gun control could be the cause of a problem much worse then any Canada has today. There are those who say such a thing could not happen here. Makes no difference whether it is Canada or the United States. However, keep in mind that is exactly what those people in Europe and Asia thought as well. They were wrong and lived to regret their decision(s).

Could it be that some of the mad men of this world know that the police are minutes away and that they will be unopposed by armed citizens while they wreak their havoc, before or as they commit suicide. These are people who have, for one reason or another, given up on life and want to end it with notoriety and fame. Lawbreakers love that our laws prevent law abiding citizens from being able to defend themselves.
