Study Reveals Refugees Are Costing Americans Big Time
Democrats always go on about how they want to take in all of the migrants and any refugee. That would be fine as long as the migrants go through the appropriate channels and are properly vetted. But Dems don't seem to care about vetting or the safety of Americans as many want open borders. But it turns out there is another cost to Americans, aside from our safety, as a study shows refugees cost Americans big money, up to 133 thousand dollars per refugee.
"Advocates of expanding the number of refugees admitted to the United States have lately portrayed their position as a win-win — refugee resettlement not only assists the refugees themselves, it also allegedly improves our nation's fiscal health. The fiscal claim is unsupportable. Although refugees from earlier generations were often well educated, today's refugees have fewer than nine years of schooling on average. Because of their low earning power and immediate access to welfare benefits, recent refugees cost the government substantially more than they contribute in taxes, even over the long term.
Our best estimate of the average refugee's lifetime fiscal cost, expressed as a net present value, is $60,000, with those entering as adults (ages 25 to 64) costing $133,000 each. Perhaps this is a price that the United States should be willing to pay to further its humanitarian goals. However, resettlement in the United States may not be the most cost-effective means of aiding displaced people."
"The low education attainment level of so many of today's refugees means they need a great deal of government assistance. Given these costs, policymakers have to decide if it makes more sense to settle a modest number here or help many more people overseas," Steven Camarota, co-author of the report and research director for CIS, said, the Washington Examiner reported."
But I am sure that Dems will take this study into consideration as they wouldn't want to put a strain on taxpayers and raise our national debt...
