There are plenty of competitive eating records that any normal human would covet — such as the most pizza, cheeseburgers, tacos, or ice cream. But Michelle Lesco is not as wise as other competitive eaters and decided she would make her fame by eating the most… mayonnaise. She done messed up.
Michelle ‘Cardboard Shell’ Lesco is the Guinness World Record holder for eating the most mayo, which we must assume is a pretty big deal in Witchita, Kansas. Congrats?
Lesco, who is a math teacher, provides a valuable lesson on how much fat the human body can consume without dying. The woman from Arizona broke the record for mayonnaise consumption by devouring three and a half jars of mao in three minutes. Congrats? The best part is the world-famous competitive eater lived to tell about her incredibly fatty accomplishment.
A video of the mayo monster breaking the record shows her wolfing down the thick dairy by the spoonful, scarcely pausing for breath. Honestly, it is enough to make you gag just thinking about it and it raises a couple of key questions: how and why?
Indeed, how exactly she manages to get it all down her is even more mystifying given that the maths teacher is only 5′ 4” – which is not exactly the stature you might associate with competitive eaters.
However, Michelle said when it comes to necking buckets of mayo, size doesn’t matter.
She told Guinness World Records:
“The biggest misconception about competitive eating is that all of us are like 500 pounds and 10 feet tall. Back in the day when they first started these contests, they would pull people from the audience, and they picked people that they thought could eat the most – so I think that’s where it came from.”
Michelle is also the proud holder of two other eating records: the fastest time to eat a bowl of pasta (26.69 seconds), and the fastest time to eat a hot dog with no hands (21.60 seconds).
You’d have to think these are more competitive fields too, ’cause who in their right mind would wanna have a go at breaking that mayo record, honestly?
Michelle reckons it’s her fast metabolism that helps her devour vast amounts of food so rapidly, though she said it’s no use just having a natural talent, she has to do plenty of ‘practice’ too.
This practice mainly involves eating lots of the food she is about to competitively consume ahead of wolfing it down at an event, as well as stretching her stomach by eating large quantities.
Michelle discovered her calling when two male mates said no to eating a burger with 12 patties, 12 slices of cheese, lettuce, and tomato – prompting her to step up and upstage them.
So I think we’ve covered how she ended up smashing down all that mayo, but why she would scoff down more than three jars of mayonnaise in three minutes remains a mystery.
In the video below from the official Guinness World Records YouTube channel, you’ll get to see Lesco going for gold in the mayo eating challenge. She sure loves her fast food.
