She Rented A Hotel Room For A Homeless Man, And She Got More Than She….

What would you do if you won a fortune out-of-the-blue one day? Often, people struggling financially are delighted to win the lottery and wouldn’t think twice before spending it. However, a chosen few like to travel off the beaten path.

When a young mother got lucky with money one night, she knew it could help her. But what she saw next profoundly touched her, making her reconsider her initial decision. Today, we’ll celebrate another soul-stirring story of kindness, friendship, and love.

Sofia Andrade is a mother of three on disability so when she spent her last $2 on a scratch card and won $200, she couldn’t believe it.

The New Bedford, Massachusetts, mom could have used the extra cash, but fate led her to spend it on a greater cause that day. She saw a homeless man out in the cold on one of the most frigid days of 2016 and knew what she had to do.

There’s a man named Glenn Williams that Sofia and the rest of her community in Wareham, Massachusetts, are well aware of. Glenn had been living on the streets for the past 3 years but had a respected reputation in the community. He was kind to everyone he encountered.

“And I was like ‘Where are you going? Can I buy you a cup of coffee?’” Andrade, 28, told ABC News. “I knew when I saw him that I’d been given this money to help him.”

When Sofia approached Glenn and asked him if he would like to go to a local cafe with him, Glenn was overtaken by her generosity.

You see, Sofia had big plans for the money she won. She told WCVB:

“I knew that the money never really belonged to me. This money was meant to help him.”

After they enjoyed a coffee together, Sofia revealed to Glenn her next kind act.

Sofia took Glenn to the local Rosewood Motel and used more of her winnings to purchase a room for him. Massachusetts is known to have fierce winters, now Glenn will have a safe and warm place to sleep.

After Sofia wrote about Glenn on her Facebook, the post instantly went viral. Pretty soon, people from all over town supported Glenn in a variety of ways, whether that was donating winter clothes or giving him a free haircut. Glenn was taken aback by everyone’s generosity,

“There’s a lot of good people in this world. I’m overwhelmed with all the help, and I just want to thank everybody.”

Glenn is looking to get his life back on track. With the help of his community and from super individuals like Sofia, we’re optimistic.

Sofia also started a GoFundMe page for him which has raised over $15,000.

“Glenn is speechless. He can’t go a few minutes without having tears in his eyes,” she said. “He is so incredibly grateful for the support he has received.”
