Sen Scott Calls Out Biden For Blue State Bias
Biden claims his presidency is going to be about unifying the nation. He has made the claims numerous times but now it appears he is going to start playing favorites. Biden is planning to give emergency funds to New York since they don't know how to budget. Senator Rick Scott called out Biden for bailing out New York over their incompetence.
“I mean, this is wrong,” he railed. “We shouldn't have Florida taxpayers bailing out New York. New York cannot live within its means. I got elected when Cuomo got elected back in 2010. He's never lived within his means and neither does de Blasio. We have given the states over half a trillion dollars for COVID relief. … We should help on COVID relief. I want targeted help for people. But to bail out these blue states makes no sense."
“This is just payback,” Scott said. “This is just Joe Biden saying ‘Oh, [Sen.] Chuck Schumer [D-N.Y] you helped me … Oh, [New York City Mayor] Bill de Blasio, you helped me.’”
“Here’s $2 billion out of FEMA that’s supposed to go, it’s been allocated by Congress, it’s supposed to go for hurricanes and floods and wildfires and other natural disasters,” he continued."
Scott is right here, we should not be taking American tax dollars meant for emergencies and giving them to New York instead, especially if they don't know how to budget properly. That's a waste of money. It doesn't teach them to do better in the future. New York Leaders should be cutting back and fixing their spending issue, but instead, they are being given more money to burn through. Money that other more responsible states that are also hurting due to COVID need.
And what happens when Hurricane season arrives and the money is not there? This favor to New York seems short-sighted and unfair to any state that has been properly budgeting.
