If anything this protest has shown that our educational system needs some work. These protesters seem to have no idea who important figures are in America’s history and can’t tell the difference between confederate statues and presidents. But the indiscriminate tearing down of states almost seems intentional. Originally the BLM movement was all about taking down confederate statues but that quickly evolved to anyone they felt was not woke enough. But even that doesn’t make sense as they want to tear down the emancipation statue and have taken down many other statues of historical figures that are against slavery. Most recently they even took down none other than the statue of Fredrick Douglas, a former slave turned abolitionist.
“There’s only a stump where a statue of famed abolitionist Frederick Douglass once stood. The monument to Douglass, one of several in Rochester, New York, was found ripped from its base and disposed in a gorge over the weekend.”
The famed orator moved to Rochester in the 1840s after escaping slavery. There, he helmed the North Star, an abolitionist newspaper that eventually became Frederick Douglass’ Paper. He later moved to Washington, DC, after his Rochester home was set aflame…”
Police declined to speculate but really who else has been tearing down statues all over the country. The protesters are even demanding that Emancipation Statue be taken down, a statue paid for solely from freed slave wages. It seems like they just want to destroy everything and anything.
