Private School Indirectly Bans Mom And Dad

This is supposed to be an elite school too… Manhattan’s Grace Church School in NoHo is by no means for the public as they have a tuition of almost $60k/year. But I guess they have decided to join the woke crowd and instill some inclusive language into their students. They absurdly advise against “offensive” terms like Mom, Dad, or Merry Christmas. And people to have their kids go to this school…

Instead of saying “mom,” “dad,” or even “parents,” the school suggests using terms like “grown-ups,” “folks,” “family,” and “guardians” when communicating about life at home. And instead of saying “boys and girls,” “guys,” or “ladies and gentlemen,” individuals should stick to more generic terms such as “people,” “folks,” “friends,” and “readers.”

The guide goes on to declare that “human sexuality exists along a spectrum.” It adds that staff, students, and parents should “avoid making assumptions about how adults identify themselves in the present or how children might identify themselves in the future” because “sexuality can be fluid along the course of a person’s life.”

The document also advises against using “assuming gender based on stereotypes” and using boy/girl patterns for school functions such as lining up outside of the class.

“Using gender-inclusive language can provide critical affirmation to students across the gender spectrum,” it states.”

The School commented about how they are in the limelight because of their inclusiveness.

“…we have found ourselves in the eye of the culture war storm this week, and it is important to remember why we are proud to be there.”

“At Grace, we understand the power of language both to include and to cause alienation. We also know that it is our job to give community members resources to allow them to make informed and generous choices.

The Inclusive Language Guide at issue in the press, which we shared with you this fall, comes from that place in our hearts and mission. It is designed to help the adults in the community find words to affirm and unite.”
The school claims they did not ban any words, but instead are just going to guide students to make better choices in their word usage. But really this sounds like they are just going to frown on things like gender, Christian holidays, and terms like mom and dad. So more like an unspoken ban…
