This is exactly the problem with the trans-movement. People have gone overboard with this movement to the extent that minors are now in danger of having these permanent changes made to them, when they don’t know any better, and need an adult to say “No.” U.K. woman, Keira Bell, found out the hard way that the system, right now, is seriously flawed, as a Doctor allowed her to start the transition when she was 16, without parental consent, and now after 5 years, she is realizing that it was a huge mistake. She wishes the Doctors had acted in her best interest, as opposed to what was trendy. She is going as far as to sue the Doctors responsible as she was a minor at the time.
“A 23-year-old woman who is taking legal action against an NHS gender clinic says she should have been challenged more by medical staff over her decision to transition to a male as a teenager.
A judge gave the go-ahead for a full hearing of the case against the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.
Lawyers will argue children cannot give informed consent to treatment delaying puberty or helping them to transition.
The Tavistock said it always took a cautious approach to treatment.
Gender identity charity Mermaids said that people face a long wait for access to such services, that they can save lives and that very few people regret their decision.
The clinic based in Hampstead, north-west London, which runs the UK’s only gender-identity development service (GIDS), added that it welcomed an examination of the evidence in this contentious area.”

That second mother is part of the problem allowing her 12-year-old son to transition… Poor kid.

“I should have been challenged on the proposals or the claims that I was making for myself,” she said. “And I think that would have made a big difference as well. If I was just challenged on the things I was saying.”
Doctors should require parental consent for minors. This whole thing could have been avoided had the Doctor been forced to get consent. Instead a misguided teen’s life was ruined by Doctors and a flawed system that allowed this to happen.
Now she/he must live with that tragic mistake.Such utter stupidity.

Sadly, doctors and psychiatrists are sued for trying to intervene and many are fired. Families are ripped apart when they do say NO. If you call someone by the incorrect gender, you are sued or lose your job. You can’t blame the doctors when their hands are tied. You can’t blame your parents when their hands are tied. You need to look in the direction of those who are forcing their gender identity on the public and causing these problems with lawsuits, loss of family members and their professions. Blame the LGBT movement. That is wherebthe blame lies.
It is calling a confused person by the correct gender that gets you sued. That said, I agree with what you say, even if I disagree with the exact wording.
Her fault. To blame the doctors is not fair. She was obviously demanding the change. For her to say she shouold have been challenged, more than likely that would have led to a screaming fit, her saying she should be allowed to make the changes. It is said that hind sight is 20-20. It is far to easy to say what shoould have been done, after the fact. This girl made her choice and would most likely hsave fought “tooth and nail” for it, then. Now she has second thoughts, and wants the doctors sued for not doing for her what she thinks should have been done then, that is not fair. She made a choice, now she gets to live with it.

Anyone allowing a child to make these sort of decisions must be on the border of insanity. There is not enough told to the prospective patients about the ongoing changes to their lives, once going down this dark road or their parents. To vote, you have to be an adult. I was wondering when something like this would happen. If she was a minor, I’m sure parents had to sign for this surgery. Good ‘life lesson’…some decisions might be permanent and changing your mind is not an option.
The strongest point I have seen for NOT allowing any ‘transition treatment’ for a minor! If she/he still wants to change their ‘gender’ after 21, it’s a different story than when she/he is 9, 12, or even 16, as in this case! Children should not be allowed to make irreversible life-changing decisions! young adults may still make mistakes, but at least they have a few more years to learn about life!! I read about one 4-year-old who told his mom, “I want to be a girl”—come to find out, he was jealous of his sister who was taking so much of Mom’s time, because she was disabled! When the parents made a point of paying attention to him, instead of spending all their time on the needy sister and involving him in her care, he became a happy little boy!! People might just need to pay attention to their children, instead of their phones!!
