Sometimes people just rub you the wrong way, it happens. The person have opposite views or just repulses you in some way. We all learn to live with people we are not fond of. But apparently Rep Omar feels that if you don’t like her, it is not because of a different political perspective, the way she handles things, or even how she marginalized the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it’s because you are a racist. Is that how things work now…
During an interview with the New York Times about her book, “This Is What America Looks Like: My Journey from Refugee to Congresswoman,” Omar was asked about a passage where she claims she uses her background to burn everything down. She was then asked if that makes her a demagogue to which she responded:
“It’s metaphorical. There are many times when people will say, “Something you said has agitated this space.” And it’s like, no, it’s me just showing up that did it. There are times when I will choose to not show up, because I know that my presence brings about intensity that isn’t going to be helpful. There’s no one else that exists in a space where they have to deal with the hate of anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-blackness, but also with sexism. People will say it’s my “tone.” I’m like, you’re agitated by my tone because you think people like me should be sitting in a corner, not heard and not seen. Everything that comes out of my mouth is going to be filtered through the lens of you despising my existence.”
Well, that’s one way to be a perpetual victim. This way of thinking is beyond toxic and alarming considering she is representative of the people. Schumer worries that Trump picking a new SCOTUS Justice will make us polarized and Omar over here already thinks that half of everyone in the country is a racist women hater. It amazes me that anyone would ever vote her in.
