Police are the backbone of our country, they stop chaos from ensuing by giving warnings to those acting dangerously and arresting criminals. Despite what Liberals and BLM think, we very much need them. So it is tough to hear that in New York the Left has suppressed the police so much, that a recent poll shows 80% are no longer doing their best to fight crime. And sadly more than half wish they never became police.
“A whopping 80% of NYPD officers, detectives, sergeants, lieutenants, and captains are hesitant to aggressively fight crime because of the ramifications of criminal liability, being sued, or being unfairly disciplined.”
So the future for New York looks bleak.
“As far as the future of New York City, 79% said that they don’t think New York will be safer in two years.
“New York City police officers are well past our breaking point, and Mayor de Blasio and the outgoing City Council are still piling on with policies that punish cops and erode public safety,” said Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch. “The intolerable environment and our substandard pay has every cop looking to get out as soon as they can.”
And morale is so bad because of the Left neutering the police that most hate their jobs.
“More than half of NYPD cops wish they never joined the force in the first place, according to a damning internal department survey of 6,000 uniformed officers…”
“There is no other profession that is scrutinized as much as we are,” said one NYPD sergeant, a 16-year-veteran. “The far-left-leaning politics are absolutely destroying the city of New York.”
That’s why many are leaving for more accommodating states like Florida.
“…Some cops are fleeing the Big Apple for pro-cop cities, such as Lakeland, Fla., population 108,000. That city mounted an aggressive social media campaign targeting local cops earlier this year and bagged 14 NYPD officers.”
15% of the NYPD retired or were forced out in 2020, and that number is only going to grow especially with welcoming offers from Gov DeSantis. DeSantis is telling police they will be welcome in his state of Florida, he understands that police are an asset and should be treated as such.
