Liberals seem to be at war with the second amendment. They are constantly trying to strip us of our ability to defend ourselves. They go on these long spiels about how guns kill people and how assault weapons are the devil, overlooking the shooter culpability. It’s not the crazed man with a rap sheet a mile long’s fault, No, it’s somehow the tool that would be nothing more than a paperweight without a wielder. So it should be of no real surprise that New York A.G. Letitia James is going after the organization that has been fighting tooth and nail for Americans to keep our second amendment rights. James is going after the NRA and she wants it gone for good.
James claims the NRA leadership has been mishandling funds.
“For nearly three decades, Wayne LaPierre has served as the chief executive officer of the NRA and has exploited the organization for his financial benefit, and the benefit of a close circle of NRA staff, board members, and vendors,” the 163-page complaint states.
The Washington, D.C. Attorney General’s office also sued the NRA on Thursday based on similar allegations.
“Charitable organizations function as public trusts — and District law requires them to use their funds to benefit the public, not to support political campaigns, lobbying, or private interests,” Attorney General Karl Racine said.
The New York lawsuit alleges that LaPierre, former chief of staff Joshua Powell, former CFO Wilson “Woody” Phillips, and general counsel John Frazer, engaged in self-dealing and ignored conflicts of interest in violation of NRA policy. Alleged conflicts included granting millions of dollars worth of contracts to companies like information technology firm HomeTelos, whose CEO had a personal relationship with Phillips that was not disclosed at the time.”
“The lawsuit also details personal expenses for which LaPierre was allegedly reimbursed by the NRA. These included private air travel for him and his family and gifts to friends, on top of millions of dollars for personal and home security.”
So even if this is true, it does not mean they should be dissolved. They would just need a change of management and payback misappropriated funds. The last thing we need is fewer gun-lobbyists. Liberals are constantly pushing anti-gun legislation and many have even hinted at going full-on nanny state, seizing our weapons. Organizations like the NRA are helping us maintain the ability to protect our families against criminals and the possible threat of tyranny. We will always need organizations like the NRA with gun-grabbing libs around.
