A former Marine has come forward to refute a liberal narrative while exposing the failings of a system that prioritizes political correctness over truth.
Ex-Marine Daniel Penny has finally stepped forward to clear the air surrounding his recent charge related to the tragic incident resulting in the death of Jordan Neely in a New York City subway. The Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, recklessly charged Penny with second-degree manslaughter after Neely, succumbed after a several minutes-long chokehold. Allegedly, Neely became threatening and unmanageable, as attested by witnesses.
In a conversation with the New York Post, Penny contested the liberal narrative, fostered by many Democrats and left-leaning commentators, suggesting that the unfortunate incident was racially motivated. The 24-year-old Penny, a white student in a college nearby, emphatically denied any racial underpinnings to his actions.
He candidly told the Post, “This had nothing to do with race. I judge a person based on their character. I’m not a white supremacist.” Despite the gravity of the situation, he added humorously, “Everybody who’s ever met me can tell you, I love all people, I love all cultures.” He shared his love for travel and his plans for a road trip through Africa that got disrupted by this incident.
Although legally obliged to limit the details of his case, Penny alluded to the exceptional nature of the event, claiming that the circumstances were unlike anything he’d experienced before. He emphasized, “This time was very different.”
According to reports, Neely, who had a rap sheet boasting more than 40 arrests and previous jail time for assaulting an elderly woman, was menacing passengers with threats of violence, explicitly stating his indifference towards incarceration or getting shot.
Despite the menacing atmosphere, Penny, on his way to a local gym for a swim, remained unruffled, demonstrating his faith in public transportation systems. When queried about his sentiments towards Neely’s family, Penny expressed his profound sorrow for the tragic loss of life. He also voiced his hope for a much-needed overhaul of the failing system.
In response to whether he would react similarly if the situation arose again, Penny responded affirmatively, underscoring his commitment to genuine and authentic living, ready to confront imminent threats and dangers.
Penny expressed his ignorance about the media backlash against him, mainly due to his decision to steer clear of social media platforms years ago, preferring a life away from the spotlight. “I don’t follow anyone, and I don’t have social media because I really don’t like the attention,” he told the Post.
One of the subway passengers hailed Penny as a “hero,” going as far as criticizing Bragg for filing charges against him, claiming that it was unjust. This passenger, a woman of color and a NYC resident for 50 years, insisted that Penny’s actions were an act of self-defense and potentially saved others from harm.
The woman shared her experience with Fox News, “I’m sitting on a train reading my book, and, all of a sudden, I hear someone spewing this rhetoric. He said, ‘I don’t care if I have to kill an F, I will. I’ll go to jail, I’ll take a bullet.’” She further highlighted the escalating fear among the passengers who began moving towards the exits.
Reflecting on the dreadful situation, she said, “The people on that train, we were scared. We were scared for our lives.” This testimony provides a vivid snapshot of the fearful scenario that day and the noble courage of Daniel Penny, who is now being unjustly vilified by the liberal narrative.
