Liberals seem to have a vendetta against historical monuments. Apparently they have been eyeing Mount Rushmore now as there are many important presidents carved into that mountain and they can’t have that. So CNN’s Don Lemon is claiming that he has the solution to fixing Mount Rushmore. Lemon claims we should just add Barrack Obama to the monument since he is our first black president.
“Even though a rich diversity of people helped to build this country, and many of us, meaning our ancestors, for free — did not get paid for it, could not get an education, could not build wealth, are not on statues, Confederate or otherwise, are not on Mount Rushmore,” he said. “I think, listen … if they’re going to put someone on Mount Rushmore, considering the history of this country, the first black president should be front and center.”
Shortly after Lemon’s monologue, CNN host Chris Cuomo jumped into the fray to endorse the idea as being more palatable than destroying the Founding Fathers.
“Add to Mount Rushmore. I think … first of all, I think it’s a more salable idea than the idea of taking away Founding Fathers,” said Cuomo.
“So, what’s wrong with all of us together thinking or reshaping our country so that more people – rethinking our country in the way we think and where our priorities are so that this country belongs to everyone,” Lemon later added.
“Nothing’s wrong with it,” Cuomo responded.”
Is that how this works? Do we need to put Obama up everywhere to try and keep American history safe? Lemon seems to forget that it doesn’t seem to matter who it is, no historical figure is safe. They have torn down abolitionist Thomas Jefferson, they want to tear down the emancipation statue of Lincoln and have just recently torn down another abolitionist Fredrick Douglass. It seems like it is only a matter of time until they start attacking MLK memorials.
