Florida University Student-Run Court Overrides U.S. District Court

In this digital age, no one is safe from their past and even private messages can easily become public. We have seen this time and time again with celebrities and the whole cancel culture. There are actors and celebrities that are losing their livelihoods over something they said sometimes decades ago. In this instance, student Jack Denton was upset that his University Supreme Court ousted him from his position as president all because of his Catholic views. Denton did not publicize his views or make them part of the court that he oversaw. His personal beliefs were made public after a private conversation was made public.

“After Denton sued the school in September, a U.S. district judge ruled that the university was under no obligation to reinstate him to his role. But the student Supreme Court—whose decisions are binding on the student senate—decided to reinstate him anyway, saying that Denton’s ouster violated the senate’s own First Amendment policies.

“The essential question for this Court is whether a violation of [Denton’s] constitutional rights has taken place,” the court’s decision reads. “We hold that it has.”

“The court responded that principles of free speech supersede personal feelings. “A Senator who uses his influence in student government to silence the message of a fellow student, simply because of his disagreement with that message, offends the very principles upon which our Republic was founded,” its decision reads.”

This is bizarre that a student-run court is fairer than our culture currently is. But ruining the careers of celebrities is not enough for Libs, they have upped the ante going after the Historical figures like Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt. These Libs need to wake up and realize that culture changes over time. If not for a president like Lincoln, who knows when slavery would have been abolished. But instead, Libs highlighted a bad trait and damn him, tearing down his memorials, when they will never contribute to society as he or most of these Historical figures have.
