Another fine example of how the left is killing comedy. Family Feud host, actor, and comedian Steve Harvey went on the record about the Left during a recent interview he did while promoting his new show. Harvey claims that he has practically given up on his stand-up comedy because he is worried that cancel culture would end his career.
“Harvey, touring to promote his new daytime courtroom show “Judge Steve Harvey,” addressed a question as to whether he’d ever do a stand-up comedy special in the near future. Harvey denied that he had any intention of doing so because he thinks he’d get canceled over it, and mentioned that if he ever did one, it would have to be at the end of his career so it wouldn’t matter if he got canceled.
“The only way I can do one more special is if it’s at the end of my television career because it will end my television career,” Harvey said. “We’re in the cancel culture now.”
“To bolster his claim, Harvey mentioned some big-name comedians who have gotten canceled for irreverent jokes.
“No stand-up that is sponsor-driven can say anything he wants to,” the “Original Kings of Comedy” star said. “Chris Rock can’t. Kevin Hart can’t. Cedric the Entertainer can’t. D.L. Hughley can’t. I can go down the list.”
“The only person that can say what they want to say on stage is Dave Chappelle because he’s not sponsor-driven,” Harvey continued. “He’s subscription-driven.”
He’s probably right. Cancel culture goes after anyone that is remotely conservative. They got Gina Carano from Disney’s Mandalorian fired just for comparing persecuted conservatives to jews. And it really only is conservatives. If you are liberal you can say just about anything or do just about anything and it’s not a big deal. Virginia’s former Governor Northam had pictures where he had previously dressed in black face and somehow that wasn’t a deal-breaker. But if it had been a conservative, it would have meant public shaming and forcing their employer to fire them.
