Chris Matthews Inspires Twitter Trend We Can All Appreciate: #FireChrisMatthews
MSNBC's Hardball host Chris Matthews has been more than a little outspoken when it comes to his feelings about Bernie Sanders. He has gone on more than few rants about how he is not really a Democrat, or how Dems should not allow him to win. But those were all nice in comparison to his latest slight towards the current Dem frontrunner. Matthews claimed that Sanders winning the Nevada Caucus was comparable to the Nazis beating France in World War 2.
“I was reading last night, Brian, I know you’re a history guy too, I was reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940, and the general, Renault, calls up Churchill and says, ‘It’s over.’ And Churchill says ‘How can it be? You’ve got the greatest army in Europe. How can it be over?’ He said, ‘It’s over.’ So I have that suppressed feeling. I can’t be as wild as Carville, but he is damn smart, and I think he’s damn right on this one," Matthews claimed.

Even the Left was upset about this absurd and offensive comparison.
"Alex Kotch of the left-wing Center for Media and Democracy said, "For once, I'm not being sarcastic here. I'm dead serious. I'm really, really insulted by a major pundit on an allegedly liberal news network comparing a Jewish candidate's overwhelming caucus victory to the French losing a battle with the Nazis. Get this lunatic off the air."
"It is absolutely unacceptable that Matthews is making comparisons between Bernie Sanders, whose family was murdered by Nazis, to Nazis. @HardballChris needs to retire. Immediately," Media Matters editor Parker Mallo"y said.
"Retire, get fired, whatever. Bottom line is that Matthews needs to be out of a job," she added."
Matthews heard the outcry and gave an apology for his offensive comparison.

Democrats seem to be bad at history, they are always making a Nazi comparison marginalizing the horrors of that war. Matthews was just called out for it and had the decency to apologize. But really he should know better. He is just another establishment Dem afraid of Bernie Sanders.
