Barrett Apologizes For Using "Offensive" Term
The Dems are honing in on anything and everything they can in order to make Barrett look bad. But Barret seems to be pretty flawless as their attacks are not landing. Dems are of course focused on Barrett's position on Roe v Wade. They are upset that she is being unbiased and not giving them the ammunition they need to attack. But according to Senator Hirono, Barrett used an offensive term when talking about members of the LGBTQ. But with the pronouns and new identities coming out on the regular can anyone really blame her?
"Sexual preference is an offensive and outdated term, it is used by anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice -- it is not," Hirono said.
The Hawaii Democrat said she was “disappointed” that the circuit court judge declined to weigh in on whether she agreed with the majority in Obergefell v. Hodges, the Supreme Court case that granted same-sex couples the right to marry.
“So even though you didn’t give a direct answer I think your response did speak volumes,” Hirono said. “Not once but twice you used the term ‘sexual preference’ to describe those in the LGBTQ community.”
Hirono said such an “offensive and outdated term” is used by “anti-LGBTQ activists to suggest that sexual orientation is a choice. It is not. Sexual orientation is a key part of a person's identity.”
Barrett later was given a chance to respond to Hirono's criticism.
"I certainly didn't mean and would never mean to use a term that would cause any offense in the LGBTQ community. So if I did, I greatly apologize for that,” the Supreme Court nominee said.
Geez, I think most of the population would have made the same mistake, especially considering there is nothing offensive about it. It's a term usually used when asking if a person bats for the other team. But Hirona is clearly more hooked into that over the Top P.C. nonsense. Barrett did nothing wrong here. But libs are so desperate that they would make a big deal about her not being PC enough.
