The MSM is barely covering the fact that Biden is using detention centers for migrants. The little that the MSM has said is practically in favor of it just because it is Biden. They even went as far as saying that the centers always treated children well even under Trump. Interesting how kids in cages and concentration camps are suddenly migrant facilities. AOC took note and went against what appears to practically be a gag order on the matter.
She took to Twitter and ranted. Her first tweet was in response to WAPO casually talking about how a migrant facility has opened under Biden.
“This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay – no matter the administration or party.”
She then went on to rant about the system.
“Our immigration system is built on a carceral framework. It’s no accident that challenging how we approach both these issues are considered “controversial” stances. They require reimagining our relationship to each other and challenging common assumptions we take for granted.”
“It’s only 2 months into this admin & our fraught, unjust immigration system will not transform in that time. That’s why bold reimagination is so important. DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more.”
“An immediate improvement would be to require influx facilities w/ children to be licensed. Another issue is whether these services should be contracted out the way they currently are to begin with And whether facilities w/ controversial records (eg Homestead) should be reopened.”
AOC like many Dems clearly wants open borders, anything else requires facilities like this, time, and lots of money. We need to vet the people that want to enter this country. Biden is right to open this migrant facility. He should be reopening all of the facilities Trump opened to ensure that migrants are properly vetted. But he has the MSM with him so it may very well happen and we just won’t hear about it.
