This story is enough to give any parent or guardian a heart attack. A little toddler, with only a diaper to cover his tiny frame, was captured on video waving around a loaded handgun in an apartment building hallway in Beech Grove, Indiana.
My goodness, the thought of what could have happened if the bullet had been in the chamber… It’s too much to bear.
Thankfully, the gun did not go off because there was no bullet in the chamber. Neighbors quickly contacted the local authorities who immediately arrested the boy’s father for allowing his child to play with the firearm and even record it on video.
The police conducted a search of the apartment and found a 9 mm Smith and Wesson pistol hidden in the back of a desk drawer. The father had thought that this would be a safe place to hide the gun, but it only landed him in trouble.
This criminal activity occurred in an apartment complex outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. It is terrifying to think that such a young child was so easily able to get his hands on a loaded weapon. The incident was captured by a doorbell camera, which is how the police were alerted to the situation.
The father claimed to police that he had no knowledge of the firearm and that it belonged to a cousin. However, police later found the firearm hidden in the apartment and arrested the father for allowing the child access to the weapon. When asked by the police where he had placed his toy, the toddler could only point to the gun.
The father explained that he had fallen ill, and his wife was also sick, and they were trying to take care of their child. While they were ill, the toddler found the loaded gun and started waving it around in the hallway in front of the doorbell camera.
It is important to realize that this incident could have ended in tragedy if the bullet had been in the chamber. The father’s negligence could have led to the death of his own child.

It is hard to imagine how such a young child was able to access a loaded weapon and wave it around as if it were a toy. Fortunately, neighbors were able to intervene before any harm came to the child. If it were not for their quick thinking, the situation could have ended in a much different way.
