Weird New Way Chicago Mayor Is Discriminating Against White People

Chicago is about 50% white and 30% black according to recent census data. So if you were to say that jobs were reflective of the population then at least 5/10 journalists should be white. But Mayor Blackfoot doesn’t understand this and is claiming that she will now only talk to minority journalists because there are far too many white journalists. She claims this is to encourage diversity. So by diversity, she means discrimination…

A journalist reported on Mayor Lightfoot’s decision:

“As @chicagosmayor reaches her two-year midway point as mayor, her spokeswoman says Lightfoot is granting 1 on 1 interviews-only to Black or Brown journalists,” local political journalist Mary Ann Ahern tweeted.”

Lightfoot took to Twitter to defend her choice to discriminate against white journalists.

“I ran to break up the status quo that was failing so many. That isn’t just in City Hall. It’s a shame that in 2021, the City Hall press corps is overwhelmingly White in a city where more than half of the city identifies as Black, Latino, AAPI or Native American.”

“Diversity and inclusion is imperative across all institutions including media. In order to progress, we must change.”

“This is exactly why I’m being intentional about prioritizing media requests from POC reporters on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of my inauguration as mayor of this great city.”

“This is an imbalance that needs to change. Chicago is a world-class city. Our local media should reflect the multiple cultures that comprise it.”

“We must be intentional about doing better. I believed that when running for office. I stand on this belief now. It’s time for the newsrooms to do better and build teams that reflect the make-up of our city.”

Forced diversity does not make things better. People have to want these jobs and be ambitious enough to go after them, regardless of race. They also have to meet the job requirements. The best candidate should get the job.  There should be more white reporters just based on the population of the city, she is blatantly discriminating against white people and calling it progress. She is a publically official and is supposed to be representing everyone yet she think discriminating against white people is ok. Looks like it is time for a recall.
