Los Angelos like many cities across the United States is experiencing a rise in crime that can likely be traced back to some “peaceful protests.” L.A. specifically is claiming that they have seen a 250% hike in homicides during the first week of June. So you’d think the mayor would want to beef up the police or get more bodies patrolling the streets, but that would make sense and that’s just not what blue states do. In light of this sudden spike of homicides, Mayor Garcetti has buckled to the defund police movement and redirected funds meant for law enforcement.
” The Los Angeles Police Department was set to receive a large increase in its annual budget from $1.189 billion last year to $1.86 billion (most of the budget increases were for new police bonuses) for 2020-2021 before Garcetti axed that move Wednesday, cutting $100-$150 million — only after activists rallied outside of his home.”
“Garcetti called the Floyd protests “a movement to change who we are in America when it comes to black America and our criminal justice system” during a daily news briefing this week.”
“Vice presidential hopeful Sen. Kamala Harris on Tuesday applauded Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s decision to slash police funding by $150 million but stopped short of saying she backed the “defund the police” movement.
“I support investing in communities so that they become more healthy and therefore more safe,” Harris said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “I applaud Mayor Garcetti for doing what he’s done.”
“Right now, what we’re seeing in America is many cities spend over one-third of their entire city budget on policing but meanwhile we’ve been defunding public schools for years in America,” the California lawmaker continued.”
“The Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union that represents rank and file officers, warned that budget cuts in policing could lead to more crime and slower 911 response times.”
A slower response time is exactly what a city plagued by rioting and looting needs… How can Dems think this is the time to start defunding the police? How do they not see the problem here?

The only response for business and residents to do is to break business leases and rent leases in the middle of this crisis and flee California leaving landlords and city officials holding the bag while their cities burn and murder people without any resistance. Also businesses and residents can have their own protest as they leave NOT to pay their state and city taxes for 2020 next spring 2021 while residing in other states.
If the democratic voters ever bother to look up stats they’d stop voting for democrats. The democrats love to play off the fact republican states get more federal dollars so it must be welfare but it isn’t. Republican states have more military bases on the whole so require the funds to run them and pay the civilian employees not to mention the military people. Then you have the rest of the BS they spew. Truth is the longer democrats run a city or state the worse that state becomes, CA is now more like a poorly built outhouse, MI has cities that once were great but now are not much more than huge ghettos, NY, well it is a dangerous city to visit, Chicago is a killing field for blacks and it goes on and on. Now they are the states with cities burning down, businesses destroyed and people suffering after those same states were hardest hit by corona virus and had the democratic dictators lock ’em down. It’s not the republican ran states and cities but the democratically ran ones. LA has a crime problem. Heck, call Hollywood and have them and Biden bail out more rioters to loot, burn and terrorize the citizens while attacking and robbing them as well. Then justify it. Import more illegals, you know the ones committing more crimes than the legal citizens. After you’ve done all you can to ensure your streets are overrun with criminals defund the police. That will ensure those nasty criminals go away. Stupid is as stupid does now all the stupids go vote in more liberal thugs who never defund their security police and live in nice secure gated communities like Pelosi who wants these thugs in her state just not on her property.
Crime in L.A. has escalated because people don’t respect the legal process. The death of one black American has gone viral on the internet while the legal process has been invoked. All of those involved have been fired, arrested & will be prosecuted . This is the law & should be followed – that is the basis for our constitutional rights as citizens of the U.S. Do not hold up one individual as a martyr for the African American community when according to 2 autopsies had dope in his system @ the time of the incident . ( Why is no one speaking of this ? ) Now people acting out of hysteria want to eliminate the police departments . Who are you going to call for help when you need it -Ghost Busters ? People are burning down the very businesses that support their communities during riots – GET REAL !

First question is where did the money come from? Many police departments are funded via land taxes and other taxes created for the purpose of funding them. It is not up to a mayor or city council to determine on their own where the money that was voted to be for the police goes. If it is based on a tax, fee, or bond measure it has an assigned purpose which can not be changed just because the mayor wants to. It must either go to it’s designated recipient, be returned to the public or never charged to the public in the first place. This looks very much like these officials are playing fast and loose with the budget in ways that may well be illegal. Second, if you have a problem with school funding fix the state lottery which only came into being because it was supposed to fix that problem but then it was privatized (like some want to do with the police) and in doing so a contract was created that overrode that by inserting a loophole. Government- where the solutions are almost always worse then the problem.
