Virginia Dems are striking back at Second Amendment Sanctuary Counties, putting a real hurt on the Sheriff Department for trying to protect the rights of their neighbors. Governor Northam and his fellow Gun Grabbing enthusiasts have blocked a 3% raise proposal for the Sheriff Department and then had the gall to admit it was because they refused to back their aggressive Gun Control laws.
Republican Senator Bill Stanley proposed the raise for the Sheriff’s Department and was approached by the State Senate Majority Leader Saslaw and told exactly why his proposal was denied by every Dem present.
Stanley posted about it on Facebook.
“Tonight (just now) on the Senate floor, I tried to amend the state budget to give all of our men and women of Virginia’s Sheriffs’ Departments a 3% raise for this year. It was defeated, with all democrats voting “no.” When I went to get a vote count from the clerk, Majority Leader Dick Saslaw came up and said this to me: “Hey Stanley, you want to know why your sheriffs didn’t get a raise? —because they came to our committees and said that they weren’t going to enforce our laws.” When I asked him which law was he talking about, he said “gun control”.
I was shocked that the Democrats are now punishing our local Sheriff’s Departments (by eliminating a pay raise for them), for the their choice to protect and defend our citizens’ Second Amendment rights. Democrats want to restrict a citizen’s right to protect themselves, but won’t pay our sheriffs’ deputies to protect Virginians. Hypocrisy has a name.”
“In response, Saslaw admitted that Stanley is telling the truth about their exchange.
“He didn’t lie … I said it,” Saslaw told WTVR-TV. “All I said was a lot of people are upset that these people come in and say they’re not going to enforce our laws. That’s all.”
Ultimately, the state Senate approved only a one-time bonus of $200 for Virginia sheriff department employees, WTOP-TV reported. The state House, however, has approved a pay raise.”
So now the State Government is snubbing the Sheriff’s Department for protecting the Second Amendment. Aren’t they supposed to be protecting the rights of their constituents? Seems like they have forgotten their place. Citizens of Virginia need to get out and vote next chance they get and remove some of these enemies of the people.
So apparently the state and not the individual counties has their sticky fingers in the county budget – seems sort of out of bounds to me. IOW if the state does control county budgets, they are meddling in local affairs that should be up to the locals.
In Virginia, the Virginia STATE code “§ 15.2-1609.2. Sheriffs’ salaries; salaries of certain full-time deputies; maximum limits” sets the salary procedures for sheriffs in that State. So sheriff’s offices are completely funded by the state, unless a county or city wishes to supplement with funding. So the State IS NOT meddling in county budgets.
Perhaps the law should be changed, but then many counties would be faced with serious budget problems in addition to the ones they already have.
Recce – thanks for the info – perhaps that is why so many counties there have both a sheriff’s department AND a county police department. It would be ‘interesting’ to see if some of the smaller counties pay the sheriff and the deputies the same salary as some of the bigger counties – might end up being like the ‘wage gap’ between men and women………………………..;-)
some of the people who voted them in our against the 2nd amendment too, they will not vote them out. they need to be educated – they need to be made to understand what they are losing before they vote.

Sad part on this, enforcing laws against any rights (particularly firearms rights) have been illegal since 1871. It is a felony to enforce any law, statute, ordinance, regulation or custom in any state, territory, district, or possession of these United States that deprives or causes the deprivation of any right, privilege, or immunity guaranteed, or protected under the constitution or laws of the United States.
This was written into title 18, section 242 of the USC as part of the post-civil-war actions against the Democratic party and the KKK, who were using deprivations of such rights as weapons against the Republican party and the ex-slaves. It was explicitly designed to remove laws, statutes, ordinances, regulations, and customs from the processes that could be considered due process. The debate on the 14th amendment was quite clear that the second amendment right to individually keep and bear arms was included.
The Democratic party continues their policies from 1868. They should be tried, convicted, and the penalties applied under law, and any governor, Republican or Democrat, who continues the policies should also have the penalty of law applied. The objective was to make it so no person could be above, or beneath the law, and the rights of the people would be retained by them so that under no excuse of emergency or fear of faction or class could they be revoked.
This includes felon disenfranchisement from rights when the sentence is served. The power of the jury extends to this authority during the sentence, and no longer.
The problem comes in that we have long made the excuse that we can disarm certain groups… and that abandonment of principle was all they needed to continue the policy against speech, meetings, churches, and our rights to the press, arms, and the sanctity of our homes and persons against unwarranted search.

Doesn’t Virginia have any RECALL procedures in place? If they do, why haven’t Virginians begun a petition drive to recall any and all democrats? Further, does state law supercede the US constitution? Where is the NRA and the GOA ?
The District Attorneys in every affected county can get Warrants for the Arrests of every politician pushing ‘gun control’ for VIOLATING THE CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHTS of the Citizens of the county.
That would give the Sheriffs the power to arrest the miscreants on site, as well as request I assistance IN THE ARRESTS and Extradition from the Sheriffs in the counties/cities the representatives and Senators are from.

The gun owners (Republicans, mostly) didn’t get out and voge in 2019–I don’t think that will happen again in 2021. Some are even thinking about recalls.

Oregon and Virginia counties are both looking at joining Idaho and West Virginia. And just bypass the liberal socialist communist in their states.
If this does happen the Idaho will have beachfront property on what was once the southern Oregon coast. Virginia would loose a majority of their current counties and both of the new improved states will have more electoral votes conservative leaning and representatives in Congress. Virginia and Oregon will loose revenue and DC representatives in Congress.
Virginia knee this when they failed to approve the new draconian gun laws. I suspect both states have a Political reckoning coming In November 2020!

I hope somebody plants one in the governor, he has earned it. He is not representing the ‘WILL of the People”. He is representing the will of the power over the people. This voted in Governor needs to be removed by impeachment or ‘citizens arrest” and make sure to call on the NATIONAL GUARD for support.
