Defying the odds and challenging the limits of parenthood, one couple’s extraordinary journey to raising the world’s first all-girl sextuplets reveals the triumphs and tribulations of their unique family life.
In 1983, Wallasey, England, witnessed the extraordinary birth of the world’s first all-girl sextuplets, a remarkable event that challenged the boundaries of patience and parental responsibilities.
After five years of trying to conceive, Graham and Janet Walton eventually succeeded in their 13th round of fertility treatment. Thrilled to be expecting multiple babies, Janet was nonetheless astonished to learn she was carrying six. The couple faced the future with a mix of fear and excitement, as sextuplets were a rarity during that time.

In an interview with The Guardian, Janet expressed her unwavering faith in the well-being of her unborn children, stating, “I knew, somewhere very deep inside myself, that these babies were going to be fine. I simply didn’t consider an alternative.”
Following the revelation, Janet left her job at the bank and remained in the hospital for the duration of her pregnancy. On November 18th, she successfully delivered the all-girl sextuplets, each weighing between 2 and 3 pounds. The girls, named Luci, Hannah, Sarah, Ruth, Jennie, and Kate, captured the world’s attention.
Initially, the sextuplets faced some hurdles, as several had to be placed in incubators due to underdeveloped lungs. Growing up, they experienced the typical sibling rivalries, with door-slamming, messy bedrooms, and sixfold the drama of an average household. Despite the chaos, they maintained a close bond and cherished their shared moments.

Now, three decades later, the sextuplets have forged unique paths for themselves. Kate works in human resources, Hannah is a teacher, Luci serves as airline staff, Ruth is in public relations, Jennie manages a candy shop, and Sarah holds a hospital job.
Their parents, Graham and Janet, could not be prouder of the wonderful women their daughters have become, overcoming the odds and navigating life’s challenges together.
