St Louis’ Top Prosecutor Is Charging Couple Who Defended Themselves From Protesters

Mark and Patricia McCloskey brandished their guns after protesters tore down the iron gate at their home. They were afraid for their lives and wanted to let protesters know that they would not be an easy target. The couple went viral as protesters recorded them with their weapons out guarding their home. But many videos don’t show the why. The videos make them out to be the aggressors when they were afraid as a massive crowd of supposedly peaceful protesters passed their house. No one was hurt, and the couple kept themselves safe with their guns. But for some reason the top prosecutor in St. Louis is out for blood and is planning to charge the couple for waving their guns around in a threatening manner.

St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner said Monday she’s charging the couple who flashed guns at a crowd marching to the mayor’s home last month, further igniting the gun-rights debate.

Gardner, the city’s top prosecutor, said Mark and Patricia McCloskey will be charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon following the June 28 incident.

“It is illegal to wave weapons in a threatening manner — that is unlawful in the city of St. Louis,” Gardner said in a statement. She added that she was recommending a diversion program as an alternative to jail.”

“…The couple’s attorney, Joel Schwartz, called the charges “disheartening.”

“I, along with my clients, support the First Amendment right of every citizen to have their voice and opinion heard.,” Schwartz said. “This right, however, must be balanced with the Second Amendment and Missouri law, which entitle each of us to protect our home and family from potential threats.”

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson claims he would consider pardoning them if they are criminally charged. He agrees that homeowners should have the right to defend themselves. The charge is B.S. why should they be charged for defending themselves? Gardner is likely a BLM sympathizer and can’t imagine that they would be violent.
