A Ronald Mcdonald house was targetted by a group of looters. The heartless criminals’ terrified parents who are already facing the grim possibility that they may not bring their child home.
Vice president of the charity Lisa Mitchell, explained just how stressful situation is: “[We were] very concerned because there was a lot of activity right in front of the house, people making choices that could put them at risk and put our families at risk so the staff was frightened,”
For those who don’t know, the Ronald McDonald House is a place for parents to stay when their newborn is hospitalized. The children can have ailments ranging from premature birth, birth complications, cancer, surgery, and other serious conditions. The charity provides housing that allows families to stay closer to their sick children while offering all the comforts of home.
It is absolutely monstrous to think anyone would think it’d be a good idea to bother these poor families or worse smash in their door. Thirty families were inside when the criminals struck.
“They’re already in a really, really difficult spot, and having this kind of additional stress and worry about being able to get to and from the hospital, even though we’re 5 blocks away, because of safety concerns is just doubling the strain,” Mitchell added.
This may have been accidental, but even so, the fact that these people were close enough to “accidentally” smash the Ronald McDonald house door still meant they were close enough to terrorize these poor families and should have known better.
Shame on them for causing unnecessary agony to those who are already suffering. Some residents weres so traumatized that they refused to leave the building, defeating the whole point of their stay in the RMH. Pray for these families and let’s hope they’ll be okay.
