House Dems are once again overreaching. This time they kicked Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene out of all of her committees. They claim that her views were too extreme and then attacked her. They did bring it to vote but they have the majority for that was practically for show. But this is so shortsighted Dems have extreme people in their ranks too like the Squad Dems. What’s going to happen when the GOP takes over the House?
“The House voted 230-199 to remove Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R., Ga.) from the Education and Budget committees on Thursday evening.
Democrats pushed for Greene’s removal because of numerous past statements and social media posts in support of conspiracy theories…” They were also upset that her Facebook account had liked a comment that said it would be easier to get Pelosi out of Office with a bullet in the head and her QAnon support.
U.S. Rep Jaime Herrera Beutler commented about the move to remove her from committees.
“The pendulum swings both ways. If we take this vote today and Republicans retake the majority next year, the temptation will be strong to kick the most controversial Democrats off their committees and we create a new way to endlessly fight with each other instead of getting things done for the American people.
Rep. Greene’s actions should be dealt with in a manner that does as little additional damage to the institution of Congress as possible, and that is not through a floor vote in the House.”
This is just wrong. Dems elected Marjorie Taylor Greene into office, so she should therefore be able to do the job that she was elected to do. Everyone has their own views and both parties have extremists. Just look at Rep Omar she marginalized 9/11 and went as far as to call the Detention Center, concentration camps.
She is also very much antisemitic. But when she went off the deep end no one took her off her committees they just made resolutions to stop the hate speech and likely warned her to stop off the record. But I guess it’s different for Greene because she is Republican and apparently Republicans don’t get the basic right of Free Speech or equal treatment.
