Here’s What Really Happened In Kenosha, The Rest Are Just Noise

The police union of Kenosha offers the most detailed account of what took place at the officer-involved shooting of Jacob Blake. This is the report that pandering Democrats should have waited for because it gives a closer look at what lead up to the shooting.

The statement from Brendan Matthews, attorney for the Kenosha Professional Police Association, goes into more detail than anything that’s been released by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, which is investigating.

The now-viral footage shows officer Rusten Sheskey and another officer trying to apprehend Mr. Blake. According to reports, the two were responding to a domestic dispute complaint where the caller claimed that Blake was trying to steal their car. It’s important to note that officers were made aware that Blake has a history of domestic violence and a warrant out for his arrest for sexual assault.

Blake chose to scuffle with officers and resist being arrested. Witnesses say Blake was seen fighting with officers and pulling away from them. In the footage, we saw officer Sheskey attempt to stop Blake from getting into an SUV, but Blake pulled away. Witnesses add that they heard officers yelling to “drop the knife” before shots were fired.

As Blake reached inside the SUV, officer Sheskey shot the suspect 7 times. One bullet severed Blake’s spinal cord and left him currently paralyzed.

Mathews adds that officers were not initially made aware that Blake had a weapon but saw the knife during the altercation/

“The officers first saw him holding the knife while they were on the passenger side of the vehicle,” he said.

Prior to the shooting, Officers attempted to subdue Blake with non-lethal force by tasering him but it had no effect on the man. “Blake forcefully fought with the officers, including putting one of the officers in a headlock,” Matthews said. A second stun from a Taser also did not stop him, he said.

Blake’s three children were in the backseat of the SUV.

A knife was reportedly found in the front of the SUV but witnesses who heard officers shout “drop the knife” could not remember seeing Blake holding one. The cellphone footage doesn’t offer enough detail as to what happened but according to witnesses, Mr. Blake was clearly evading arrest. His criminal history, warrant, and nature of the call that brought officers to the scene that day provide a better look at the situation that officer Sheskey was faced with.
