Fmr Dem Senate Leader Tells Schumer To Be Very Very Careful…

Biden announced last week that he is forming a commission to see about packing The Supreme Court of the United States. Dems are upset that the SCOTUS currently has a conservative majority, so they are looking for a way to alter it to their liking. CNN’s Jim Acosta had former Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on to talk about the Dem’s intentions to pack the court and he surprisingly said that they were wasting their time.

Acosta asked Reid what he thought of Biden creating a commission to look at adding seats to the supreme court and balancing the Supreme Court.

“I think we should be very, very, careful in doing so,” Reid replied.

“I have no problem with the commission, but I think that the commission is going to come back and disappoint a lot of people because I think they’re going to come back and say, ‘We should just kind of leave it alone,'” Reid said.

“I think it would be inappropriate at this time after that long history we’ve had in the country to have term limits for judges,” Reid continued.

“I think that we better be very, very careful in saying that we need to expand the Supreme Court. I think we better be very, very, careful,” he added.

Reid later brought up the filibuster.

“Let me just say one thing: the filibuster is on its way out,” Reid said. “It’s not a question ‘if,’ it’s a question ‘when.’ You cannot have a democracy that takes 60% of the vote.

“And so it’s only a question of time till the filibuster goes away.”

Acosta, of course, slammed Reid claiming he used to be a fighter when he did not endorse Biden’s plan to pack the court. The SCOTUS has had a liberal majority and a conservative majority before, it’s nothing new. The difference is that politicians understood not to mess with it, or they would set a bad precedent where the court could be manipulated every time a different party was in power. Reid is right to urge caution. These Dems are nuts to think it’s a good move to pack the courts.
