Zing! Someone hit New York Governor Andrew Cuomo where it hurts. Cuomo has been in a panic trying to cover up the deadly orders he gave to send COVID positive patients into vulnerable nursing homes but the fine people of New York aren’t letting it go. Someone, in fact, purchased an advertising banner that read “The Gov Killed Nana” and flew it all around New York.
The state Department of Health reports nearly 6,600 residents died at New York’s nursing homes and adult-facilities, including 6,400 nursing home residents. The state has not disclosed how many nursing home residents died at hospitals, or how many residents have been infected with COVID-19.
A June report found that at least a quarter of the Covid-19 deaths in the United States were among nursing home residents.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo promised March 2 that his administration would take a “special effort” to protect nursing homes, and later described the spread of COVID-19 through nursing homes as “fire through dry grass.”
Sick point of view, right? A sort of ‘well, they were old and going to die anyway’-type of response to the preventable deaths.
Well, while Cuomo might think he’s able to dodge the looming investigation that should follow, the people of New York are sending a very different message. The advertising plane flew it’s banner around different parts of the city. We know because multiple citings were reported on Twitter:

One Rockaway beachgoer told The Post the plane flew by around 4 p.m. as observers stopped to take pictures and applauded the message.
“The people were going crazy,” the beachgoer said. “[Cuomo] is nothing but a liar, condescending and miserable person. His carelessness caused the death of a lot of people unnecessarily.”

Cuomo’s spokesman Rich Azzopardi released a statement in response to the sign, attributing it to “conspiracy nuts:
“Everyone knows this governor has worked day in and day out to protect all New Yorkers and that’s why these sad politically motivated lies always land with a thud and I have no comment on how conspiracy nuts want to waste their money,” he said.
I hope this marks the end of the Cuomo era in New York. He’s brought enough destruction with him to last New Yorkers a lifetime.
