Are Dems not aware that they are supposed to be representing the American people, or is it they think their supporters are dumb so they can get away with murder? California Rep. John Garamendi made the callous claim that Americans left behind in Afghanistan should be on their own. I guess it makes sense when you look at the horrid state of California. Garamendi appeared on CNN’s “Hala Gorani Tonight” and explained how he felt rescuing Americans was “not sensible.”
“I just want to update you and our viewers… the U.S. Embassy in Kabal is now warning that the U.S. Govt can not ensure safe passage to Kabal Airport. And this is very tricky for people who are stuck outside of the airport, which is an area controlled by the Taliban. What do you think should be done about this?” Host Gorani asked.
“We are going to send American troops into the heart and into suburbs and into the streets of Kabal to extract people, makes no sense whats so ever. We do control the airport. We are going to do the very best we can and the people in Kabul and in other parts of [Afghanistan] are going to have to do the best they can to get [to the airport],” said Garamendi, the chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness. “There is no way the American military should use military force to go to someone’s house or some building somewhere to extract people. That will create a very significant problem and a very significant loss of life on both sides.”
“To provide safe passage from parts of a huge city? No way — not sensible,” he added.

That is some cold calculus right there. No one is saying we need to get into another conflict in Afghanistan, we are just trying to recover our own and get out. But Garamendi doesn’t even consider that possibility and instead feels the lives of these Americans are not worth the effort.
