New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio has buckled to the protesters and cut the budget to the police by 1 Billion dollars. Police know that money is going to be scarce for overtime, training, and equipment, so they are getting out of dodge with at least 35-40 filing for retirement a day. Meanwhile, crime is skyrocketing in New York as there are fewer and fewer officers on the streets. But DeBlasio claims he knows what is causing this increase in violence…guns. That’s right DeBlasio thinks that guns have suddenly started causing more violence all on their own.
DeBlasio starts off in the clip by talking about how heartbreaking it is that a one-year-old child was killed in a shooting. He then transitions into talking about how guns are the problem here, not the criminal that killed the child or the lack of police that possibly emboldened the shooters.
“It’s heartbreaking for so many reasons, and it begins with the fact that there’s just so many guns out there and that’s a New York tragedy and a national tragedy.”

“New York City is one of the most gun-controlled locations in the U.S. It exists under the umbrella of the SAFE ACT, which was signed into law following the December 14, 2012, attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.
The SAFE Act bans the sale of “assault weapons” and requires registration of such weapons in situations where they were owned prior to the law taking effect. The Act also requires the registration of ammunition, bans the purchase of magazines holding more than ten rounds, and instituted universal background checks for gun sales.”
This seems like a personal beef. People do not usually randomly shoot up a BBQ for the fun of it. It seems like the child was caught in the crossfire between two factions. But instead of that reasonable assessment, the Mayor is claiming it’s guns that are the true enemy here. New York is overly strict when it comes to gun control as it is… Wow so after castrating the police now DeBlasio wants to disarm citizens… He might as well declare open season on lawful New Yorkers.
