Some athletes are trying to protest America while they compete as Americans in the Olympics. They fail to understand the purpose of the Olympics. Civil Rights Lawyer Leo Terrell was interviewed on “America Reports,” where they talked about Olympian Gwen Berry and her foolish move to protest America at the Olympics. Terrell made it a point to explain just how wrong Berry is.
The segment started off with Fox News Host Eric Shawn reading off what Berry told the L.A. Times her goals are with her protest.
“She wants to represent the oppressed people that’s been my message for the last three years. Just making sure I bring awareness to the situations that are going on around the world, especially in America with oppression and social injustice, for sure.”
Shawn then asked Terrell’s opinion on the matter.
Terrell: “She represents no one. Let’s be very clear, represents herself and she’s on America’s time right now at the Olympics. If she wants to discuss her personal feelings, go back to America at home, call a press conference and see if anyone shows up. This game of using, this platform, she’s getting away with this because let’s be clear, because of her race and her gender.
If you attack her you are either racist or sexist, or in my case, I’m a sellout. Fred Kerley won the silver medal, Kendra Henderson won the silver medal. Black Americans, they were draped in the American flag. How dare she attack this entire country. Who are the oppressed people she is talking about? First and last name. She doesn’t have any. It’s nothing more than a stunt to basically threaten people to play the race card and the gender card.”

The Olympics are all about countries showing off their best athletes. It’s all about national pride. So protesting at an Olympic event is really a slap in the face to America and shouldn’t be done.
