Biden’s Last Minute Pardons Are Now Under Federal Investigation: Report

Here’s a question that should never have to be asked in a constitutional republic: Did the president actually sign off on a wave of sweeping pardons, or did someone else do it for him while he was “resting”?

That’s exactly what Justice Department officials are now investigating, according to a report from Reuters. The focus? A stack of end-of-term pardons issued by former President Joe Biden that are raising red flags—not just because of who got them, but because no one seems entirely sure if Biden even knew what he was signing.

The investigation is being led by Ed Martin, the Justice Department’s pardon attorney and former U.S. Attorney for Washington, D.C. According to a staff-wide email, Martin is now probing the circumstances around Biden’s last-minute flurry of clemency decisions—including pardons to multiple members of the Biden family. That’s right. Hunter, James, Frank, Valerie Biden Owens—and their spouses—all received presidential pardons even though none of them were formally charged with anything.

If that smells fishy, you’re not alone. It gets worse.

Martin’s email reportedly raised concerns about Biden’s competence and whether the now-infamous autopen—a device used to automatically replicate the president’s signature—was employed by aides or family members without Biden’s full knowledge or consent. In other words, someone may have signed presidential pardons without a mentally fit commander-in-chief even being in the loop.

Let’s not forget that autopen controversy has been bubbling under the surface for a while. Earlier this year, a New York Post report cited unnamed former aides who claimed documents were being signed by “someone” who said he was doing what “the boss” wanted. The problem? No one was sure if “the boss” had actually said anything at all. But no one dared ask.

That brings us to the core of the issue: Was Biden still in charge? Or had unelected aides, advisors—and let’s be honest, some ambitious family members—taken the wheel?

According to Axios reporter Alex Thompson, who co-authored a book on Biden’s decline, the former president’s inner circle essentially functioned as a “politburo,” making major decisions while Biden faded into the background. That group reportedly included Jill and Hunter Biden, as well as White House aides Mike Donilon, Steve Ricchetti, and Bruce Reed.

As if that weren’t troubling enough, House Oversight Chairman James Comer has now said the committee will pursue interviews with Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, and several top former White House aides. Their goal? To determine whether there was a cover-up of Biden’s mental decline and whether pardons—especially the family-focused ones—were legitimately authorized.

And then there’s the matter of the 37 death row inmates who received clemency. That’s not a typo—37. These weren’t minor cases. Yet again, the concern is whether those decisions were properly evaluated or rubber-stamped by someone with a political agenda and access to an autopen.

Look, presidential pardons are a serious power—not a parting gift basket. The fact that a DOJ official feels the need to investigate whether a sitting (or perhaps sleeping) president even knew what was being signed should send a chill down every American spine.

This isn’t just about Hunter. It’s about process. It’s about accountability. And yes—it’s about whether we had a functioning president or a shadow government run by handlers with a pen, a printer, and a sense of invincibility.
